5.0 out of 5 stars Great for arthropod lovers!
We can't get enough of these habitats! They are so convenient! We usually have three on hand, with one always in the minivan. 3.0 out of 5 stars Insect Lore Pop-Up Port-A-Bug
My grandchild will use this product next summer and we believe he will enjoy it. However when he opened the Christmas gift and tried to zip the zipper...the tab fell off and cannot be reattached. We will need to create some sort of tab so he can pull it open. Very disappointing that it fell off on the first use. Insect Lore Pop-Up Port-A-Bug

We can't get enough of these habitats! They are so convenient! We usually have three on hand, with one always in the minivan. They work so well because they fold down and go in a storage bag when not in use so that they can be stored almost anywhere very easily. They give whatever is in them a nice airy environment, and the white mesh and clear top make for pretty unobstructed viewing. The only drawback is that the mesh, as can be expected, is not the sturdiest of materials and can be ripped. We have taped a couple of small tears back together, but they do eventually become beyond repair. However, for the price and the fun, good use that is gotten from them, they are a great buy.

My son is an avid bug catcher and he has had one of these for two years now. He is hard on his toys, especially bug paraphernalia. It's EXCELLENT construction and is great for storing bugs/bees/butterflies/etc. It's held up really well over the years. It's not the one that comes with caterpillars - this is just the container, but definitely worth it.

Ordered these for grandchildren for Christmas, was real pleased with the material and workmanship and the convenience of them being able to clip it on their belt while they are exploring.

My son got this as a gift and it was a lot of fun watching them grow and change into Butterflies.
Teaches kids about how to be careful with them and to protect them from the elements.

You get a card that you fill out with your name/address etc (no extra fees) and your caterpillars arrive about a week later. Follow the instructions and in weeks you will have butterflies too!

Would recommend to kids 5+.

I got this for my daughter to collect bugs. It has a great design, is well made, and folds up very nicely.
I would recommend this to everyone.

Do you remember the old plastic Bug Keeper from the 70's? Or maybe the 60's? The one shaped kind of like a bottom-heavy hourglass? With a neon top and bottom? ... No?! ...
Well, I would say this is the next best thing-- but it's even better.

Easy to use and store - this bug house is fun to own. I've given it to kids of various ages, and when combined with a butterfly net and possibly a book for identifying what's seen in nature, this is a terrific kit/gift!

Bought this in conjunction with other Backyard safari items. Son loves it in the winter months and comes home "collecting" bugs. The bug container was made of mesh and I didn't realize my cat thought it felt good on his tongue and licked a hole in it before we could even use it. concept is good, but the mesh is very fragile. I could see a stick poking a hole in it very easily too. And you know how kids are.

I have purchased these habitats in the past. This pop up was a bit smaller for the price and it does not stay closed like the pop up's I purchased in the past so you will have to use the bag to contain it. These are great for putting little insects into and observing. I would not recommend for caterpillars because they can be easy mushed in the zippered area of the bag.
