My son, 3,5 years, loves these. (We also have ant, frog and butterfly.) He likes to sort them and talk about them and what they are doing. We looked up some videos on youtube showing the metamorphosis of the butterfly. The videos helped my son to understand that the four figures were different stages of the same animal. The figures are fairly large, which makes it easy for young children to handel and see the details. I found the mature ladybug could have been prettier.

My kids loved this. It was a good way to teach them the cycle of butterflies and it took there interest. We have now bought the Live Butterfly Garden and we are watching the stages which are still in the cattipillar stage. Much fun and learning!
