Book Description

October 1, 2000
Inshore Angler gives small boat anglers the knowledge they need to become successful at catching the most popular game fish available along the coast, enabling fishermen to make the most of each fishing cycle by providing small boat anglers with detailed descriptions of the gear, bait and lures that fishing guides use. Chapters about catching individual species of fish are organized into three-month cycles delineating the time each fish is most plentiful or discussing when a particular technique is most effective. With tips from some of North Carolina's top inshore fishing guides as well as from the author himself, this is a reference tool to be carried in every angler's tackle box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, December 13, 2002

This review is from: Inshore Angler: Coastal Carolina's Small Boat Fishing Guide (Paperback)
I just about read this book from cover to cover in one sitting. It is so full of useful tactics and information for most of the sport fishing in the coastal Carolinas. The book is well organized by species allowing you to find the chapter for the fish you seek.

Tha only thing that I dislike about the book is that it is not water-proof so that I can safely pack it along on the boat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good overview for NC inshore fishing, December 13, 2008
By
Outdoors Phil (Oceanside, CA USA) - See all my reviews
Mike Marsh is a local NC writer who has put together a very good overview for local inshore fishing in NC. If you read this book, take notes, spend some time a local tackle shop (not a box store) asking questions from your reading, you will be well prepared for the species listed. Get a local inshore fishing map and keep it out as you read. Mark off areas that sound like the books recommendations. Check your assumptions back at that local tackle shop.... I would always recommend you book a charter when you 1st move to an area regardless of how good a fisherman you are. It will save much time, gas, and money as you get the gouge from a local expert. This book will set you up to internalize a heck of a lot more. Easy read and worth the $....

What Mike doesn't know about coastal fishing is probably not worth the time. Yes, I posted the same thing about his offshore book ... but it was true over there too! ;) If you are new to the sport, you need this book and if you are stuck in a rut and need some new ideas or species to target ... yep ... you need this book. And if you just want to read some old fishing stories in the winter when the fish are in Florida ... you guessed it ... you need this book. Not much for the "old salt" here though except this Abu Garcia 1-Piece Vendetta Series Baitcast Rod.
