Book Description

October 11, 2000
Millions of people watch and read faithfully true-police and rescue stories. It would be fair to say expectations may not be fulfilled until the reader has had a glimpse of the reality of the emergency calls. The market for " inside 911 " we feel will depend on the response to emergency call humor, as there are no serious situations presented All Communications Officers do not handle calls the same and not all calls are emergencies.

Reader s will have the opportunity to find cut where 911 originated. Why do we have a 911. And when the first 911 call was placed.

Our goal was to enlighten the public on what they don t have a clue about. To my knowledge there is not a similar book sold on the mass market of policing which tells about dealing with the misinformed public to coping with the Road Officers. Hopefully, the public will be inquisitive enough to pick up the book to see the types of non-emergency calls that bombard the emergency systems.

Curious readers will have no doubt as to who takes the static when they turn up the heat. The .manuscript stresses the severity of the occupation, the dexterity of the operator, and several humorous non-emergency calls, for, in fact we are attempting to reach out the humor " non-emergency style ". Good luck and good reading whatmost dispatchers wouldn't dare to print.

THIS BOOK REFLECT'S WHAT EVERYDAY LAW ENFORCEMENT DISPATCHERS DEAL WITH ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS. I FOUND THE BOOK MOST AMUSING. IF YOU ARE NOT IN THIS FIELD OF WORK, OR DO NOT KNOW ANYONE IN THIS FIELD THEN YOU WOULD NOT APPRECIATE THE MISSPELLED WORDS.(ALL DELIBERATE I'M SURE) AS MOST DISPATCHERS USE CODES AND SIGNAL'S FOR DISPATCHING CALLS. IF YOU WANT TO BE REALLY SHOCKED THEN APPLY FOR A 911 DISPATCHER POSITION..!! GOOD READING, THANK YOU..P.S. YOU CANT JUST PULL THIS BOOK UP BY ENTERING 911

2.0 out of 5 stars Shocked!, November 30, 2003

This review is from: Inside 911 (Paperback)
I foolishly assumed that any book that is published, is first proof read. The stories, though I imagine were wildly colorful to the writer, were unclear to the reader as her copious misspelled words and shockingly poor grammer were hurtles in the reading. Perhaps her ideas would have been more clearly understood if conveyed to a real writer who then could more skillfully retell Ms. Stacy's tales. The book leaves the reader to doubt the intellecutual capicity of people in the field of emergency dispatch. I couldn't have been more disappointed.
