This lovely book and its companion, "Inside Rome," are a terrific resource if you're a designer looking for inspiration. They are a sampler of unusual interiors from many different periods and styles, well photographed and nicely reproduced. The most interesting are those to which there is no public access - government buildings etc.

I should be ashamed for giving this book only 4 stars. It's more like 4.5 stars - but not 5, trust me...

This lovely books shows some of the amazing interior designs of buildings in Barcelona. And it has to be said that some buildings are even more prettier on the inside then out.

The contents are divide into chapters each focusing on specific types of buildings. I.e. schools, hotels, hospitals, ect.

The photo's in this book are lovely and detailed but most buildings are presented with only 1 picture. Which brings up the reason why this isn't a 5 star book. There is this overwhelming feeling there could have been so much more. This book could have been 4 times as big - easy. It's almost frustrating to have but one photo of an entire building knowing there is much more to see. I'm hoping that one day that book will be published.

What did surprise me is that in the back there is a "Gazetteer" with info on how to visit these buildings such as address and telephone.

Highly recommended.

Note: there is a paperback (1998) and a hardcover (1992) version!
