This is a great way to get a handle on the events of the bible. There are easy references from the outlines that help you go to scripture to look up further information as needed. The overview of each book help to put it into perspective with the relevant historical culture and relationship of old to new testament. Very interesting and handy tool.

Excellent Catholic Overview of the Bible,

This review is from: Inside the Bible: An Introduction to Each Book of the Bible (Paperback)
"Inside the Bible" is another feather in the Ignatius cap as that Catholic publisher has produced a remarkable book here. Kenneth Baker offers quick sketches of each book, providing summaries, outlines, the history of the book and the theological implications. Some of his best work are on some of the more obscure parts of the Old Testament as he shows how they are reflected by the New Testament. Baker also shows how each book of the Bible relates to the Church. Experts and newcomers alike will enjoy this useful and concise survey of the various books of the Bible. The Church needs more books like this and more authors as talented as Kenneth Baker.

I have found this book quite helpful in reading and studying the bible. It contains reviews of all 73 books and the author provides a brief review of each, allowing the reader a reasonable amount of knowledge of the theological, historical and societal context behind the writings. The main thrust is encapsulated and the teachings explained so that the reader has additional understanding of an admittedly difficult and sometimes complicated subject. It also highlights a verse from each book which represents the book and also breaks each book down into the main subject of each chapter. Written especially for the Catholic, but also for any serious student of scripture, I highly recommended this book.

Not worth the money. The book is a child's book and not worth reading for adults.
