patient for life,
By "klaudiao" (Tacoma, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inside Dentistry: Everything You Need to Know (Paperback)
Growing up in an Eastern European country where the "art" of dentistry was, well, still just a science, the thought of having to go in for my regular check-up, or, heaven-forbid, actually needing some work done, used to put me in a cold sweat. I had the great fortune of being introduced to Dr. Nozawa a couple of years ago, and for the first time in my life my panic attacks associated with the dentist visit have vanished. Dr. Nozawa's book gives insight, emotion, and practical advise for proper dental care. It's smart, to-the-point, and an absolute must-read. Am I biased because I'm a patient? YOU BET! For a good reason: he's a fantastic dentist.

I first came across Dr. Nozawa on a network morning show. He discussed how a healthy heart is linked to oral hygiene. I immediately ordered this book; a great, easy-to-understand guide to dental care. I'm fortunate enough to live in the area where Dr. Nozawa practices. Hopefully I'll be a patient of his by the time you read this. P.S. This book would make a wonderful gift for anyone you care about.

Inside Dentistry is just that! I care for my teeth in an entirely new way because of this book. Dr. Nozawa shares a side to the business I have never seen before in a friendly and easy to undestand way. My first glimpse of the smile guy was on a network morning show. He spoke of the link between heart health and oral health. I took notice and immediately bought the book. My wife then investigated the Dentist a little further since it turns out he practices in our area. She discovered nothing but great things such as an incredibly high commitment to charitable dentistry. Where does he find the time? Anyway, I encourage everyone to read this amazing book. I sincerely believe it will change your life.

Great Book - Greater Man,
This review is from: Inside Dentistry: Everything You Need to Know (Paperback)
Having known Dr. Randall Nozawa for almost 10 years I have to first tell you that he is one of the most genuine and pleasant individuals I have ever met. I am of the opinion that this is a wonderful book for anyone looking for answers about dentisty. It wasn't until I read Dr. Nozawa's book that I truly realized what a difficult and for the most part thankless job most dentists have. This book truly did give me an inside view into the world of denistry. I think that after reading this book that you will never be able to look at your family dentist the same way. Dr. Nozawa thank you for laying it all (the good, the bad, and the ugly) out there for us in laymen terms.

consumers dream come true,
By "debra777" (Lynnwood) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inside Dentistry: Everything You Need to Know (Paperback)
I feel Inside Dentistry is a book that everyone can understand. Its not bogged down with a bunch of "medical jargon". Reading this book gave me the feeling of freedom to choose, and question my dental provider without hesitating, or feeling uninformed. Dr Nozawa was very honest about his hardships, and helped me feel that I was not alone and that dentists are just merely people too. I was surprised that he suggested to get second opinions when it has been in my past experience my former dentist never once suggested getting one when I questioned why something needed to be done. I think this is a book that everyone who plans on seeing a dentist should read!

My Dental bible,
By "debra777" (Lynnwood) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Inside Dentistry: Everything You Need to Know (Paperback)
I have read Inside Dentistry, Everything you need to know. And after reading it, I most certainly found out "everything I needed to know". I consider this my "Dental bible", a book that everyone one should own. Dr. Nozawa's book is insightful, enlightening, and has some nice humor in it as well. The final chapter "coming to terms with myself" brought me to tears. I have learned alot about the field of dentistry and how it runs as a business. I understand the concept of insurance in a clearer picture. I had pre-misconceived ideas that dental insurance companies were here to help us consumers/patients, but in turn found out completely the opposite. They truly are not a benefit... well, maybe to themselves, but not to us as consumers, This is a MUST read for anyone who ever questions dental treatment, charges, benefits, and simply just the language your dental provider speaks. I suggest that everyone who reads this review purchase Inside Dentistry, and enlighten yourself today. One of the best "self-help/consumer books I have read in quite some time....

A great dentist devoted to his craft,

I have to respond to another reviewer who liked the book but questioned its trustworthiness due to some legal trouble Randall was in when he first broke into the business. From what I understood, it all stemmed from business/legal issues that had nothing to do with his qualifications as a dentist. It's not appropriate for me to go into details here, but he IS an excellent dentist. I know. I was his patient for several years. I had a lot of work done and he did an outstanding job. I was impressed by his articulate explanations of the procedures and his professionalism in general. And I've not had a problem with my teeth since. He was also the only completely painless dentist I've ever had. I'd recommend his dentistry to anyone and I'd recommend his book to anyone too.

Book OK, but should you trust it?,

This book did provide some useful information, but seeing that Dr. Nozawa's license was suspended (see http://www.doh.wa.gov/Publicat/99_News/99-45.html), it is hard for me to take his book seriously.
