Product Description

This unique independent film traces the development of the band from the tail end of the Move era through the creation of the legendary debut album and on to the birth of Wizzard. The original and classic line up of the band featured the combined talents of Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan and Roy Wood. Drawing on rare footage of the original ELO in performance previously unreleased on DVD this powerful film features the frank and incisive views of a team of leading critics and working musicians. Essential viewing for every ELO fan this is the definitive retrospective of the birth of a legendary band. Featured tracks include 10538 Overture, Jeff s Boogie, Queen Of The Hours, and more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stolen clips, irrelevant chatter, profiteering, April 26, 2005

If you care about ethical behavior, then avoid the Inside series from Classic Rock. To avoid paying royalties, they use clips less than 20 seconds long, often of very poor quality, and argue that it is fair use, since they are doing "critical reviews." They sell their wares to the public as informative and musical, and the content is neither: just a thrown together rip-off mishmash.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good ELO documentary, August 9, 2005
By Keith Black (Simi Valley, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This DVD will probably only hold interest to die hard ELO/Move/Wizzard & Roy/Jeff/Bev fans [like me!]
It IS a documentary, NOT a 'performance video'. There are some great clips of the earliest ELO line-up [personnel] with lots & lots [almost TOO much] comments by English rock/music critics.

It's good because it has footage from [very HARD TO FIND in the states] British & German TV shows....

It's not as good as it COULD'VE been because the makers of the DVD COULD have added the complete performances [by themselves without the blab & commentary] in an additional menu. The documentary [complete show] lasts one hour. DVDs can hold MORE than that. Anyway, it's just a suggestion....

This is why I gave it 3 stars. It's good but not "excellent".
Hopefully someday the powers that be [like "F.T.M."???] will put out a nice BIG DVD set of The Move & ELO [with "Mike Sheridan's Lot"! & "Wizzard"!] like 'The Beatles Anthology' where they cover the WHOLE Move/ELO saga & do it up proper.
