This book consists of a series of 39 essays that Natsume wrote back in 1915. At first glance they seem to be little more than brief musings of a brilliant writer who was in the twilight of his life, but if one is willing to read the book a little closer, one will see the man Natsume Soseki through these brief pages. Through them we can understand his mental make up and his feelings about everything from kabuki to cats. A good book for the Soseki fan.
