Jim Marrs is a veteran journalist who isn't afraid to examine topics that are suppressed by institutions of power. In this book, Jim joins the growing number of authors who have challenged the official tale of the events of September 11, 2001, making the case that the evidence points to the attacks being an inside job. The motives, methods, and plans are all presented for the reader, incriminating those in power in the USA. Nearly 3 years after the attacks, Jim Marrs has collected much information [most of which can be quickly found on the Internet on websites of the many independent researchers of 9-11 and related shadowy activities]. One would have to create a very bizarre and improbable conspiracy theory to attempt to deny the main assertion Marrs presents in this book. Jim Marrs deserves credit for collecting the available research and presenting it coherently for the public to examine. Marrs book has garnered the praise of persons such as John "Men Are From Mars" Gray and Catherine Austin Fitts, the whistleblower who has been a victim of those who she once served as assistant housing secretary in the Bush Sr. Administration. Hopefully, more public figures will soon begin to acknowledge the criminal nature of our leaders and encourage the public to reclaim control over the country from the existing power structure. Until then, enjoy books like this one and let the mainstream media folks know that they are merely acting as press-titutes when they spout "official" tales rather than reporting what really happened.

When the Constitutional Convention concluded in 1787, it is reported that Benjamin Franklin was asked what sort of government the Founding Fathers had crafted, and Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it." Turns out we couldn't! Most Americans are unaware of the fact that their country has degenerated into an oligarchy.

I remember watching a live TV news broadcast of the September 11th event when a retired Air Force officer called in to the station and asked how it could be that nearly an hour after the first hijacked plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, the skies over Washington D.C. still had NOT been secured, thus making the Flight 77 attack on the Pentagon possible. "It starts already," I thought to myself. What had started already? The suspicion; the weird anomalies; the missing puzzle pieces; the unexpected behavior and the odd lack of expected responses to an emergency of this kind. In short, signs of The Conspiracy manifested early on and were evident to the rare citizen with unusual political acuity.

Few citizens realize that Insider complicity is not only imaginable, but to be expected. It's not like we've broken new ground here! The sinking of the Lusitania which helped to embroil U.S. citizens in the unpopular World War I and the bombing of Pearl Harbor, forcing them into the equally unpopular World War II served as the template for September 11th and its subsequent "War On Terror" in the Middle East. It's deja vu all over again (quoting that immortal yogi, Berra.)

'INSIDE JOB' brings together so many of the unaswered questions surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks and presents them in a very sensible and earnest manner. Naturally, those American citizens who have the audacity to raise these serious questions, and worse yet, expect REASONABLE answers from their government representatives, will be dogged by those Americans who interpret this as being "unpatriotic." Never mind; 'INSIDE JOB' raises the pertinent questions, even if it can't definitively answer them :

* Why was President Bush not immediately whisked away from the elementary school where he was speaking when it was known that hijacked planes were in the air and his location was public knowledge?

* Why are a number of N.Y. firefighters convinced that the WTC towers were brought down by strategically placed bombs, and not the steel-melting inferno that has been "sold" to the public?

* Why did Condoleeza Rice lie and say that an attack of this nature was unimaginable when it can be shown that our Intelligence agencies had information many years in advance which indicated that just such an attack was being planned?

[*2005, Feb.1 ADDENDUM: In 1995, the Manila police uncovered an al Qaeda terrorist plot to hijack commercial airliners and fly them into American buildings. The plan was code named "Project Bojinka" and the World Trade Center was specifically mentioned as a target. This information was turned over to U.S. Intelligence authorities. You wouldn't learn this from a person who reviews the book after reading only 20 pages of it, because this information is located on page 55. Of course, 6 years later "Project Bojinka" is carried out, and now some high-ranking American authorities are telling us that the possibility of such an atrocity was unimaginable. Sure!]

These are just 3 of the many very relevant questions that our government officials have failed to address satisfactorily. You'll find the others in 'INSIDE JOB'; the staggering amount of them will catapult you out of your comfort zone.

While 'INSIDE JOB' presents many nagging questions and points out the great discrepancies in the "official" version of the 9/11 events, the reasons for these will make little sense to the casual reader until he or she has gained a real understanding of the Big Picture. To that end, I likewise also highly recommend 'THE CREATURE FROM JEKYLL ISLAND' by G. Edward Griffin; 'NONE DARE CALL IT TREASON: 25 YEARS LATER' by John Stormer; and 'ORIGINAL INTENT' by David Barton. Since I opened with the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin, I'll also close with it : "Those who are willing to sacrifice their freedoms for a measure of security deserve neither." I guess he means us, huh?

Mr. Marrs has done it again. An exceptional examination of the various parties involved in 9/11.

Whether you believe that the government was complicit in 9/11 or not, the facts speak for themselves:

* NORAD failed our nation multiple times, NORAD lied about how quickly fighters were deployed.

* The Pentagon does not appear to have been hit by a boeing airliner (and if it was, why won't the FBI release the videos they have? They made us watch the towers over and over again, ad infinitum). If the plane never struck the Pentagon, what happened to it and all the people on it?

* Silverstein, the owner of the World Trade complex, admitted on video to having 'pulled' (construction term for demolished) building 7. He made millions off of the insurance money for the towers. Why has he not been investigated? Who does he know?

* Firefighters repeatedly reporting hearing bombs explode in the towers. Local university seismographs depict seismic activities corresponding with proposed explosion times prior to the towers collapsing much too perfectly.

* Rumsfeld has since slipped on 2 occassions indicating that flight 93 was actually shot down.

* Marvin Bush, the youngest Bush child, was the security head for the World Trade Centers but left his post on September 8th. Why? What did he know? Just another one of the numerous coincidences surrounding the characters involved here. Why no mainstream media coverage of this?

* The quick FEMA clean up of the rubble and dispursemnt to China against the NYC Fire Department's chief's pleas to allow fire experts to examine it. (Why, what is FEMA hiding?)

* 4 non-Arabs arrested at the George Washington bridge morning of 9/11 with explosives. Why have we never heard of this story again?

* What about the put options traded on both American and United weeks prior and days before 9/11? Why no investigation of this by the CFR led 9/11 Commission? Why no SEC investigation?

* What do the black boxes say?

* How did the "terrorists" passports make their way to the streets of New York unharmed after crashing and burning into the towers? Were they planted? Was the Koran they conveniently found in a rental car in the airport with the hijack plans? Give me a break! This is so staged its ridiculous!

* If the towers were so hot, to melt steel as never seen before in the world of building fires or the world of science, how come there are picture after picture of people looking out the holes cause by both airliners? How hot was it really?

* Bush said on 2 public occasions that he watched the first plane strike prior to speaking to children in a class in FL. How? No cameras (outside of the French film which turned up after 9/11) were filming until AFTER the first hit. So who in his group knew to have a camera on the first tower so he could see it going down before the rest of us?

* If the "terrorists" were mostly Saudi Arabian, why have we not attacked Saudi Arabia? Can you say oil? Can you say Bush family business ties. Can you say American economic dependence?

It goes on and on and on. These are all facts. And many leave one wondering. Too many holes, too many lies, political cover ups in the name of National security, etc.

Again, Jim Marrs brings the truth to light. Maybe some day facts will replace half truths and media blackouts. Yeah, and maybe pigs will fly out my butt! Pigs flying - must be a conspiracy, right?

I just finished reading this illuminating and insiteful book and, although it trolls through waters fished by other writers, I still found the book an excellently written investigation into the myriad contradictions so apparent in the official investigation into the events of 9/11. I was impressed with the mountain of media gathered by Maars from sources around the world demonstrating that there are questions being asked by people far removed from the immediacy of Washington's Beltway. I find it unbelievable that any reasonably well read and well informed person could dismiss the factual material presented by Maars and other writers because the complete scenario is so believable. There are people who hold strong beliefs that their vision of the future is the only "right" one and that any action that leads to that conclusion is inherently "good" for the masses that don't have the brains to understand the overriding concept in the first place. As Maars relates in section 21, the American people, and many of my own Australian people, want to believe in the "good" so they will allow the erosion of long-held rights in order that this "good" will eventuate.

There are many scary bits in this book and perhaps the scariest are in section 18. It is bad enough to think that corporations play puppet master to the Empire but to think that other countries are so powerful that they can pull the strings of the Leviathan makes for disturbing reading.

I think Maars is right and it scares the hell out of me.

This was second book I bought 9-11. The first being The New Pearl Harbor by David Ray Griffen. I personally perfer the New Pearl harbor over this since I liked the way it was organized. This is still a really important book. He added some good eyewitness accounts from survivors who heard explosians on other floors as they were evacuating. The one particular thing that I had a hard time accepting from this book is the remote control theory. But than again it is only theory from him that doesnt effect all the other evidence. And finally there are a lot of detractors for books like this. Their arguments are usually vague like saying that this is a bunch of lies. Occasionallly they will quote some expert who agrees that the buildings could have been downed by the planes. They still cant answer bigger questions like why the planes were allowed to hit there targets. How the petagon which has Andrews Airforce Base 10 miles away with planes on standbuy 24/7 was not used. Instead interceptor jets were scrambled from I think Otis airforce base. And finally why has there never been a video of a plane hitting the pentagon? The media showed the NYC attacks a thousand times. The only surviving video that wasnt confiscated by the FBI that morning only shows 3 frames. None of the frames show a plane hitting the pentagon. Anyways when someone emerges that can explain all this away than I might change my mind. In the meantime every documentary of the official version I have seen is only reinforcing what the alterantive media is already saying that 9-11 was a INSIDE JOB!

Jim Marrs presents a vast amount of information on 9/11 in this book and so the book can serve as a useful reference for those who intends to do research on 9/11. However, the book misses some aspects such as reference to the technical analysis that shows that fire (caused by hydrocarbon fuel) cannot melt steel leading to demolition of a high rise building. I also felt that a reader could easily get lost into the vast amount of information presented in the book. However, it could be the style of presentation rather than the vastness of the information that that I felt was a bit problematic.

The author presents an interesting hypothesis that 9/11 was the result of multiple conspiracies by several parties each having their own agenda. Although the agenda of the American right wing, Osama bin Laden and Israel is transparent enough, the motives of the Saudi government and Pakistan's intelligence service (ISI) is not clear at all. Probably, the latter two acted as intermediaries for the U.S. insiders.

The author also presents many interesting reports published in magazines and newspapers. One such interesting report is that a few months before 9/11, Osama bin Laden was treated in a U.S. military hospital in the Middle East where he was visited by a CIA agent. Although it sounds ridiculous, one must not forget that in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, it was only the members of the Laden family who had the privilege to be in the air in the U.S. The exact role of Osama is a bit mystery and his useful role in helping the advancement of the American neo-conservative agenda cannot be denied. The author also presents many similarities in the aftermath of JFK assassination and 9/11.

Another deficiency of the book is that the author did not present detailed references of the vast information presented in the book. Detail references would enable others to verify or conduct further research.

The concluding chapter is excellently written. For those with vision and foresight, it is not difficult to see that while the grandson of a Nazi collaborator is waging war in another part of the world to bring "freedom" there, he (i.e. the grandson of a Nazi collaborator) is trimming freedom in his own country in the name of "protecting his people". If the Americans do not wake up soon and take active interest in the affairs of their government, it may not be a distant future when the U.S. will be transformed into a police State and democracy will be anything but democracy. Nothing can be worse than a situation when incidences of terrorism become an integral part of the popularity barometer of State leaders.

Eveything written in this book, the Pentagon hit by a missle and the towers blown up by bombs, has been confirmed with evidence in the documentary movies: 9-11 In Plane Site and Painful Deceptions. You cannot rent or buy the first one from Amazon, but you can get it from Ebay or the website that produced it.

There is something missing though from both the book and the dvd, and that is the plane the plane that went down (shot down) over Pensylvania. Rumsfield has twice said the plane was shot down and you can still find audio of him saying it. I was surprised that the FBI had not removed or deleted that audio.
Eyewitnesses have stated they saw pieces of the plane fall off it when it was in the air. The crash site shows nothing but a black hole in the ground with no luggage, no bodies, not even a tire or a piece of metal, just like the Pentagon site. Now if there is a contradiction or a coverup with this story, which was reported as a hero story of Americans wrestling with terrorists, then there is bound to be something else covered up.

The thing the American people need to understand is this: The media reports exactly word for word what it recieves from the Government. Whether it is BS or truth, FOX news, CNN, ABC, CBS, and every other station does not have a say when it comes to matters of the state. We report and you decide should be, we report the distort and then you decide.

The complete destruction of the World Trade Center made the American public angry and hungry for revenge. The U.S. invaded Afhanistan is in Iraq now and who knows what they have planned for in the future. It is painful when you realize that your own governement planned these attacks and killed Americans in order to have access to Middle East Oil, but as cruel as it appears, it is the truth.

I leave you with a quote from Mark Twain: "a lie could go halfway around the world before the truth had a chance to get its boots on."

The allegations in this book are startling. Jim Marrs gives us a picture of total cover-up of the actual facts of 9/11. The Bush administration tells us that Arab terrorist armed only with boxcutters hijacked commercial airliners and crashed them into the World Trade Center, collapsing both buildings, and into the Pentagon, and another plane that didn't make it to Washington DC went down in Pennsylvania due to the actions of brave passengers. Now Jim Marrs tells us that none of it is true.

The government released information about the terrorists who were supposedly flying the planes, but it later was found that some of them were not even on the planes. Marrs questions whether the hijackers actually intended to commit suicide and whether they were actually flying the planes. He presents an alternate theory that the planes could be controlled from the ground. The Arab who was supposed to be flying the plane that hit the Pentagon was such a lousy pilot he was kicked out of flight school, yet the plane made a maneuver that required a high level of skill. Marrs also questions whether that plane actually hit the Pentagon (the hole in the building was smaller than the plane) and why no remains of the plane or passengers were found.

The horrible images of the WTC collapse will stay with all of us who saw it on TV on September 11, 2001: people jumping out of windows from all levels, the smoke billowing from the top, the black dust cloud on the streets, and people running and screaming, trying to get away. But did the planes crashing into the buildings bring them down? Or was it controlled explosions that collapsed those buildings? What about Building 7, one of the smaller buildings, that also collapsed? Marrs says that some of the rescuers and those fleeing the buildings heard explosions in places not penetrated by the planes.

What about the actions of our President, George W. Bush? Why did he just keep on reading to school children when he got the news? Didn't he think he could be a target too and that the children's safety was in jeapardy? Or did he already know he was not a target? And why didn't he get jets in the air and order them to travel at top speed to the attack sites? How can Bush claim to put homeland security first when he failed so completely to protect Americans on September 11, 2001?

This book raises many questions, many of the most interesting from the families of the victims. Ellen Mariani's RICO lawsuit openly alleges that the Bush adminstration cuold have stopped 9/11. The most sinster part of what this suit alleges is that the attacks served the interests of the Bush adminstration which wanted to go to war in Iraq. It ended criticism of Bush's policies and tended to unite both parties behind the Bush agenda. Bush got his war in Iraq, and now we are reaping the sad consequences.

You can take the material in this book, at one extreme, to make a claim that the Bush adminstration was actually behind the 9/11 attacks or you can just take it to indicate incompetence in dealing with a crisis that led to a cover-up of the facts. In either case, it should remind Americans to look beyond the explanations given by the Bush adminstration. September 11, 2001 was one of the worst days most of us have lived through. It has affected all of us in many ways. We deserve to know the truth.

I am not taken with conspiracy theories in general. The tone of most conspiracy theory books borders on the hysterical, and the authors can often be the source of their own undoing. (Even though the Bushes' long and well documented history includes unbroken and financially prosperous business relationships with not only the Saudis, but also with Hitler, it serves no one to repeat the connections as though the Bushes are Nazis.)

However having said that, I read the entire book. There were moments of wading through vagueries and inflammatory accusations. But I couldn't deny the facts -- too many of them -- and was stunned by the contradictions revealed in the 9/11 report.

I have read Richard Clarke's "Against all Enemies" (highly recommended) and urge readers to purchase that book. This is well written by an "insider" who was loyal to both Democratic and Republican administrations. I've also read Kevin Phillips (American Dynasty) Joe Wilson (The Politics of Truth), Bob Woodward (Plan of Attack), and Ron Susskind (Price of Loyalty).

A disturbing reality emerges about this administration after reading these varied accounts. I sincerely hope the shroud of secrecy will be lifted exposing those who should be held accountable, so that we may avoid another tragedy - natural or otherwise - while "under their watch."

If nothing else, this is a quick, entertaining read, stimulates thinking, and in my opinion, the actual documentation provided within the book and in its appendices is the most compelling. (Along with the web site listed at the end - 911 truth dot org )

(Have you ever read the full text of Presidential Bulletin entitled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike US"? The one that President Bush received in August while he was on vacation? I had not. Reading that, I think, would motivate any ordinary American to end their vacation and assemble everyone who had any knowledge, power, and / or authority to enter into discussions to determine exactly what this Bulletin meant in order to thwart any efforts Bin Ladin had in place to cause us harm.)

Read the Rico Complaint (in the appendices) filed on behalf of widows who refused "hush" money from the government. That alone, raises questions which the American people deserve concrete answers to.

By the way, the gentleman who did not purchase the book and reported that this book is a sham in his mind because of a couple of answers he took on faith from the official 9/11 report: The FAA said it lost track of the airliners because the transponders were turned off and they didn't know where the planes were until it was too late.

Well, fact is, Flights 11 and 175 were at all times on Boston's flight control radar. When Flight 11's transponder was turned off that only kept Boston from tracking the plane's exact altitude - the plane was still being tracked on Boston's primary radar. Many Boston flight controllers actually watched the planes go down on their radar. (One of them testified to this fact before the Commission) Why did the FAA apparently distort the facts?

NORAD did not respond in any manner for 57 minutes after first being notified of Flight 11 being hijacked. Why so long?

When General Myers was asked why the F-16s didn't prevent the Pentagon from being hit, his reply was that the F-16s were moving like "scalded apes at 500 mph." That sounds fast - it is the speed commercial airliners travel - but for an F-16, it is crawling. F-16s which can go up to 1,500 MPH. Why were they moving so slowly?

These are just a few questions raised. There's a lot more to read, and surely with enough outcry from American citizens, our government - the one for and by the people - will prosecute those who are accountable, remain at large, and possibly at the helm.

Marrs's book is another expose about the complicity versus incompetence theory. The problem with this theory is that complicity will never be proven; because if it does, then the world order and the make up of power will change, and the distrust in government will reach its ultimate peak, and that in itself would lead to anarchy. That is why the Kennedy assassination per example, remains a mystery, and that is why people are uncomfortable with conspiracy theories !
However, incompetence is a much better and acceptable scenario when it comes to the federal government. When a federal agency claims incompetence for its mistakes, it will receive more funding and more human resources, and will eventually expand to a bloating level in order to reduce these mistakes. Ironically, whenever an error occurs, it is usually blamed on that same bloated bureaucracy that was expanded to begin with to resolve that same problem. It is an interesting cycle, nevertheless a vicious one.
Are you confused yet? If you are, that is good ! Because that is the whole idea, which is to remain in a state of confusion; therefore, we accept whatever we are told, and that in turn would reduce our inner conflict about two opposing ideas, that eventually force us to choose one, in order for us to quell that inner conflict and regain our inner balance and harmony.
Anyway, Marrs's book is concise, blunt, and straight to the point. It is filled with well known and overwhelming facts. It will provide the reader with a speedy and interesting perspective on the 9/11 events.
