About the Author

Frank Conforti has been involved with computer-aided design for 30 years as a designer, CAD administrator, consultant, journalist, and as the author of several CAD-related books. Mr. Conforti joined Bentley Systems in 1995 to help start the MicroStation Institute (now the Bentley Institute), Bentley's premier end-user training program. He is currently the Global Learning Technologies Manager for the Be Careers Network, BentleyÂ's outreach program to academic institutions.

This book covers well the basic (and sometimes not so basic) functions available with this software. The explanations are detailed and easy to follow, even if you are not using the program along with the text. Many diagrams of function keys and easy access to more detailed usage. Great for a beginner or novice user.

Inside MicroStation 95 has helped me considerably to understand how to operate MicroStation. Before I read this book I had no previous knowledge of any other CAD software. Now I feel completely confident using MicroStation. As an architecture student, I don't have much time to sit around and read thousand-page books that confuse more than help me. Inside Microstation was easy to read and understand, and I finished it in about 2 weeks.

After obtaining a job with a State Government agency, I was dismayed to know that I would have to unlearn AutoCad and learn Microstation. No worries with this book. It has to be the easiest, most simply written computer software program I have ever read (that's quite a few). All the instructions are in large type and presented with graphics and easily understood instructions. No fussing like in most AutoCad tutorials. You can learn one item at a time and proceed at an easy pace. You are taught one efficient way to perform each command. Upon further reading and more confidence (yes, the writer is kind enough to take it easy on you and reduce your anxiety), you can create your own ways of doing your favorite commands. The "F" keys can greatly reduce the number of steps you need to perform many, many tasks. Believe me. After many cram courses and other self-taught programs, I was greatly surprised to discover this book. Relax and learn.
