I randomly saw this band at Lollapalooza last year in Chicago, and they were quite a surprise. (In fact, one of the best I saw the whole weekend.) I was disappointed that they didn't have a full album to take home with me, but I finally picked this up when it came out last week.

The album was worth the wait. Every song is solid, the lead has a great soaring voice, and they already proved their worth as a live act. It is a really well done rock n roll album. "Strange New Place" "Ceasefire" and "Control" are pretty killer rock songs.... "Element" "Send Me Out" and "Fall Behind" show a softer side... the opening song "Days Away" is incredibly powerful. The lead singer's voice is really haunting at times with his soaring voice being a prominent feature throughout the disc. All in all, there really is not a bad track on the cd.

It is worth the purchase if you like good rock music and good vocals. Period! You'll be surprised and have a new favorite band.

This album truly has character and energy! I've had Moses Mayfield's album for several months and it still remains at the top of my play-list. They are an incredibly talented rock band with catchy guitar riffs and hypnotizing vocals. I was devastated to learn that they had broken up after just one album. Moses Mayfield could have gone big.

As soon as I popped this in the player this album shot up to the top of my 'Best of 2008' list. I can't believe I had never heard of these guys before now! Currently this is only available via 3rd party sellers - Amazon needs to get on the ball and stock this album! Get it - you will NOT be disappointed.

A unique album with great melodic alternative rock. From the beginning to the end, you'll enjoy each song!

Why is it that "artists" like Paris Hilton get the publicity when genuine artists like Moses Mayfield get passed over? This is a solid album! I can't believe I got this for less than a dollar before shipping costs!

This is my first ever Amazon review-
I heard Moses Mayfield open for Pete Yorn recently and I was instantly hooked. I ordered this cd immediately and it is in constant rotation over here. This is the best new band I've heard in a while. I like the entire cd, but my faves are Control, Strange New Place, A Cycle, Element, and Modern Rarity.

This record, upon first play, immediately was added my list of "stranded on a desert island" list of discs. Matthew Mayfield writes with such a dynamic range, that there isn't a single weak song on the album. There is a very bright future in store for these guys and this is only the beginning!

I recently saw Moses Mayfield open for Pete Yorn in Charlotte, NC, and they put on quite a show. Prior to that I had never heard of this band, but I bought the album after seeing the live act. The album showcases their ability to balance complexity and subtlety in a variety of songs, each with their own story. I highly recommend this album, and I hope they come around again soon. This band is very promising.
