This is very Huge book a lot of pounds but too little information. Did you ever read Oracle Documentation about Des 2K? Yes? You have already red this book. I recomend 2 new book within Oracle series (Des 2K Handbook and Des2k Generator) it is much better.

The examples in this book were poor. Several examples were incorrect, with steps missing and eronious references. This is a bread and butter book for the author as can be seen by the rapid publishing of other titles by the same writer.

As a seasoned Oracle developer I found this book filled with errors and reader assumptions. I would not recommend this book for a mid-level to upper-level application designer let alone a beginner. This book will turn you off using Designer/2000 for the great modeler it is.

My instructor used this book to teach Oracle's CASE tool Designer 2000. If I or any of my classmates knew anything about this book before, we would have had our instructor fired for selecting such a TERRIBLE book. Why would anyone write a book on a Beta and the publisher publish the book? Just doesn't make sense! The first 3 chapters are the most important, and at the same time has the majority of the problems. My class (including the instructor (who is a DBA) individually tested the first three chapters four times and none of us got it to work more than twice. Many of of the instructions are obscure compared to actually using the released Designer 2000 product. And when you do follow the instructions accurately you do not always get the result needed. Overall this book deserves a negative 1 star. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!

Pompously superficial, omitting important steps and dialogs, this book has proven quite counterproductive in my current project. The first three chapters will prove interesting to absolute novices, but that is about all. Whoever prepared the index failed to find what little hard information is hidden in these pages.

I have purchased other books on Designer/2000, but I made more progress with the first three chapters of this book than any of the other books. The book guides you through the development cycle of a very simple application, and touches on a lot of tasks that you need in the real world. The Screen CAM is excellent and the entire book is well thought out and organized. This book will help you become productive in a few days.

Absolute rubbish, save your mone

This is the worst book I have ever read about Designer. OK, there is not too much about Designer but you don't have to waste your money with such a fool book.

This book is an excellant guide to Oracle's Designer CASE tool. Designer is a very large tool. If you study this book in detail, the book's almost 1000 pages describe how to design and transform an application using Designer V2's. The book was written while Designer V2 was still in BETA test. A few of Designer's screens do not match the screen examples in the book. A second edition would be a great idea. This book is required reading for all of our software developers.

In my opinion this book is one of the best books in covering Designer/2000 features , I like the most helpful manner of explaining the subjects which is going step by step fashion to explain examples from real life . It discusses the purpose and use of each tool in all phases of a software development project in very good manner .
