4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound but Missed Just a Little
Nate Sallie has the potential to go to the top of Radio Disney. His new album shows his abilities to shine. I did think, though, that his sound was a little 80ish. But the past is coming back in clothes; why not in music?

1. Inside Out - The title track is a pretty good opening. You gotta listen a few times to get into it. If you heard about Nate through a Christian...

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply generic and unoriginal...
A hefty fraction of the song "All About You," sounds identical to "All the Small Things" by Blink 182. The first time I heard the song, I thought I was listening to a parody. The others tracks are not as unoriginal, but just as cliche, and it seems as though he simply attempts to imitates the pop rock music of the current Top 40.

If you heard about Nate through a Christian website then you'll think that they made a mistake. His faith doesn't show up right when you start this CD but it flares in other songs. (9/10)

2. It's About Time - I really like the guitars that start this song off. This song seems to be talking about doing what you need to do or having fun before life passes you by. A little slower than the song before but really good. (10/10)

3. All About You - This song is definately spirtual. The only thing that I like about this song though is the chorus. I'm not particularly crazy about anything else. This is one of the weaker songs to me. (6/10)

4. Save Me - I really like this song. The lyrics are really awesome. I really can't express my like of this in words. "Save Me" is definatly a winner!! (10/10)

5. Without You - If you go to the next track without knowing the title of this song then you did not listen. I don't like this song. The music is good but I don't like hearing the phrase "without you" over and over again. I think this is one of the weaker tracks as well. (5/10)

6. Beautiful Surprise - To make up for the last song, "Beautiful Surprise" is good job. Once again though spiritual content takes backseat. But it is a good song. To all the self-conscience girls out there, this song is for you. (9/10)

7. Whatever It Takes - I'm reminded of another song when I hear this one. I cannot recall the name though. But I like this song. It talks about getting back to Christ "whatever it takes". (10/10)

8. What Are We Waiting For - This is an "ok" song. I don't really know what to say about it. "What Are We Waiting For" is just about all you hear though. (7/10)

9. Never Againg...Again - This is probably the reason I bought the album. "Again" is the most heard word in this song. But it is the second best song on the album I think. (10/10)

10. Lead Us - A beautiful song. I can't believe he waited until the end of the CD to show his real talent. This is the best song on the album, without a doubt. Hopefully this will be Nate's sound on his sophomore album. (20/10)

All in all "Inside Out" is a pretty cool CD. I would like to hear some piano in his future songs (I'm a piano guy). And I kinda get that Nate tries to be rock but has a pop voice. Perhaps I'm wrong, hopefully I am. But I think his songs are a little to guitar driven.

Most likely Nate will appeal to a younger audience of girls. But I think he needs to mature his sound a little and come back about next year with a killer sophomore album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Music With Great Message, September 26, 2004
By
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
I love this cd. It's loud and yet it has a great message. I saw Nate Sallie in concert last June with my other fave singer, Jaci Velasquez. I was right up front and had a blast. I love all his music and hope to see him again soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars I never heard something like this!!!!, December 28, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
This is probably the VERY greatest CD I've ever heard! I would have given it all the stars in the sky if I had the chance! If you're like me and like fast, kind of rap/pop music then you'll absolutely LOVE this one! This album is great all the way through, and it is the coolest CD I have! I can listen to the songs over and over again without ever getting tired of them! These are my very favorites (and mind you - [VERY] favorites. I actually love ALL of them) . . .

- Inside Out
- All About You (My VERY VERY favorite)
- Save Me
- Without You
- Beautiful Surprise
- Whatever It Takes
- What Are We Waiting For

That's 3 short of all of them - can you believe that? I could just go on and on forever about how wonderful this CD so to cut it short - you just HAVE to get this CD - even if you don't like this kind of music this CD may just actually get you into it! I never heard something like this, and I'm sure you'll agree if you get it so please do!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth through music, December 23, 2004
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
I have always been a fan of contemporary christian music, but don't often invest in the music. This, however, was one of the best investments I could have made. Nate Salley is an incredible artist with lyrics that relate to the everyday person. He shows the mistakes we make without criticism, with the hope that we can still rely on God. His music has a great beat, catchy tunes, and wonderful messages. "Save me" will forever remain one of my favorite songs!

5.0 out of 5 stars UP AND COMING, December 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
Picked up Nate's CD after he contacted our church about a concert and was totally impressed. He is coming in January 2004 to do the concert for a minimal fee. His music is not only full of faith but Nate explores self-image and self-acceptance through several songs. I believe his reach to young people is infinite. Nate puts forth refreshing lyrics and an upbeat sound geared for young teens and adults alike. I highly suggest this CD. Can't wait for the concert or to see where Nate is headed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grab your air guitar and rock, January 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
we've got a teenage girl in our family that wanted this for the title song and fell in love with the rest. Our teenage son is glad we've got some bangin music that's not girly. Sallie has been referred to as Justin-Timberlak-Like, Older Gen-X-ers may think he's more like George Michael on steroids with some wicked good guitars backing him up. The 40 year old parent finds the music infusing, simply staggering in it's intensity of emotion, great solid lyrics with positive messages .
If you want to hear all the songs before you buy the album, check out Sallie's web site and it let's you do it !
Love this album

5.0 out of 5 stars Nate Sallie is SO amazing!!!, January 10, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
There are songs that you have to listen to over and over again to finally begin to like them. Then there are songs that you can absolutely love on first listen - that's what Nate Sallie's are like! He is so amazing - I never heard such music before! I do believe that he is now my favorite artist! I absolutely can't wait until his next CD comes out. After I heard the song Save Me (because that's the only one they play on my radio station) I thought it was so great and that I should check Nate Sallie's music. I listened to the "song samples" on Amazon, and I couldn't believe it - this is just the kind of music I was always looking for, but could never find! And I thought Save Me was going to be the best on his album because that's the only one they played, but actually there are so many better ones! My favorite was All About You, but here's what I think about EVERY song . . .

Inside Out ~ 10/10 - This is a really good song with really good lyrics that go "No matter what the clothes you wear or how you do your hair. No matter what you try to change I'll always feel the same. No matter what the car you drive, no makeup face to disguise, I'll always see you from the inside out." "I" of course is God and this song shows that He doesn't care about all that stuff that people do and that He only cares about your "inside" This is probably my second favorite song on this album.

It's About Time ~ 6/10 - This song is OK . . . I mean it has really good lyrics, but it's a kind of slower songs, and I like the faster type. It's still a good song.

All About You ~ 100/10 - Oh, I absolutely LOVE this one . . . believe me - it's the BEST song on this album! It's fast, it's pop, it's cool, and it's just lyrically wonderful!! "It's all about You, it's not about me. Wherever I go I want people to see your light is shining like the sun in everything that I do. It's all about you" - I like that! It is so cool sounding - lyrics and music! This song made the album to me!

Save Me ~ 10/10 - This is a another great song . . . about God saving us (the chorus - "Save me from the walls that I build. From the broken heart inside of me that just will not heal. Save Me though it's hard to believe that the faith I need is so far from the world that I see. Won't you save me"). I can't say that this song is slower, but it isn't as fast as some of the others. But don't think that it is boring SLOW song though! It's wonderful!

Without You ~ 7/10 - This is a good song. I mean it's not like a favorite of mine, but it's still godd - lyrically and musically. There's not much to say about a song that I don't really like.

Beautiful Surprise ~ 10/10 - This is a beautiful song! The lyrics again are wonderful like the part "You've got a special way about you. Don't ever let nobody doubt you. You are so incredible and I want you to know that it's time to see you're wonderful and just let go . . ." I really love this song!

Whatever It Takes ~ 10/10 - The first time I heard this song was on WOW 2005, and I loved it and couldn't imagine a song better. But when I got the whole CD I thought that this one wasn't even that great (compared to the others that is). It's still a good song.

What Are We Waiting For ~ 10/10 - This songs is about waiting for God's return - what are we waiting for anyway? This is a really great song!

Never Again...Again ~ 6/10 I have to say the tune is bad on this one - good words, but not the greatest music. It's OK.

Lead Us ~ 4/10 - This is probably the worst song on this album - every CD has one of those. It has really good lyrics, but it is REALLY slow - it doesn't really fit with the others.

Well, there you go! Hope you are convinced to get this CD - you should for sure! I absolutely recommend it to anyone, and I'm sure that you'll love it like I did!! It's not rap - it's more pop, and that's what I love. It's perfect; so get it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly suprised, April 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
I wasn't sure what I'd be getting with this newcomer to the music scene. I'd heard a song of his on the radio and was drawn to the fact that it seemed a bit edgy for the typical christian pop station. So I bought the CD on a whim and discovered that this is a guy with some amazing musical promise. All the songs are pretty good, but a couple highlight Sallie at his full potential (All About You, Never Again). Unfortunately, he seems to be marketed to a younger crowd, but I think Nate Sallie could easily please listeners from a variety of backgrounds. His strengths seems to be the passion and creativity exuded in the CD's musicality as well as his strong vocal stylings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome music for younger teens!, August 30, 2003
By
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
Just saw this band tonight at Six Flags and picked up the CD. My 12 almost 13 year old really enjoyed it and so did I. It's hard to find encouraging music for younger teens and music that parents can tolerate. These guys have phenomenal talent and not only do they sound good on the CD, they're even better live! I highly recommend this CD. The music is great, has motivating and uplifting lyrics - an asset to anyone's music library!

4.0 out of 5 stars No need for track skipping...., June 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside Out (Audio CD)
Hey guys and gals! This cd is sooooo refreshing after having spent over $100 on Christian cds that could only produce 1-3 good songs. I was very disappointed. Especially the groups that have one hit single and the rest of the album is hardcore rock. Of course you can probably tell that I'm all about pop ... but I'm also about good vocals...and an album that shows that the vocalist's heart was put into the lyrics. The lyrics are very meaningful, the tunes are upbeat and fun... and Nate even talks about his town in one of the songs. This was like WOW to me... cos few artists tell you who they ARE in their albums... but since Nate wrote most or all of the songs... he really gives a good impression. I liked the cd from the moment I put it into my boombox. I don't have to skip any tracks and I recommended Nate to my best friend right away!
