Inside the Red Tent (Popular Insights),
This review is from: Inside the Red Tent (Popular Insights) (Paperback)
After reading the novel, The Red Tent, I found this a good follow-up to see further into the times of this setting. As we are studying Genesis for our Bible Study this year, I am encouraging my ladies to read both the novel and this interesting look into the women of Abraham's family.

I first began reading this novel when it was lent to me, by one of my dear Church Sisters. After the first two chapters, I realized I needed to buy my own, as I was not able to get into it at that time. It was a while before I got back to reading it again, during a long flight; and I could not put it down after that. I bought two more as gifts for my daughters; and I have recommended it to other women in my life. It has led me to want to read more about the women of the Bible, both Old and New Testament. It has even led me to recommend the study of the women of the Bible to the women of my church. It is an excellent read. I hope Diamante will write more books, like this, about women of the Bible. I look forward to reading more of those works by her. Since reading this book I have read other books that are written like this, by other authors; religious stories, based on facts. I make sure that their references show that they have done much research, (including from Hebrew professors), and that their stories are based on as many facts, from the Bible, as possible. I highly recommend this book. Mom-Bev.

Good, but not that good,
This review is from: Inside the Red Tent (Popular Insights) (Kindle Edition)
I got this book because I like it as a view of the Bible stories from a different angle. What I didn't expect was how much goddess worship there was in it. Maybe I was naive in that thinking back then they accepted God faster. I didn't even finish it the first time I read it because I was saddened how the book depicted Rebecca. It was a good read to see how Women were back then. I wish we had the "Red Tent" now. 3 days off would be fantastic!!!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I appreciated the author doing this from Dinah's view since as written in the Bible the story is somewhat different. If you are considering this book it does not disappoint.

Thrilling Biblical Fiction,
This review is from: Inside the Red Tent (Popular Insights) (Paperback)
If you are secure enough in the biblical truths to realize what is real and what is fiction, then this is a really good book to read. It is loaded with the culture of the times as well as good old Drama! I thought it fun to give 'Dinah' a personality and a story (even though fictional) because her story is not told in the bible. Remember it's fiction and enjoy! For fun, search the bible to see the true lineage and the truth between this tale and the true account of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
