I thought it was really helpful and easy to read.

Great textbook - if you're interested in learning the ropes behind journalism (and how to write it), this is the book for you!

This "Kindle" edition is not usable on a Kindle. Please note, this review is not for book content, but only for the Kindle Edition of the book. I just want to make sure no one buys this for a Kindle user, since it's unusable for them.

This was a great deal. I was supposed to buy the third edition for my class ($80) but the difference is insignificant. Really good condition.

Harrower makes the antithesis of a college textbook. This reads like a magazine with a ton of helpful tips and shorts that will make anyone a better writer! The e-text makes for easy finds, but the paper back version would be a god investment for the shear volume of tips that could be used day to day!

It is informative, and for a student it is essential (however, just because it is essential doesn't make it good). That aside, the author is arrogant and it shows in his writing. I would also argue that some of his unnecessary and snide comments detract from what he is saying at times. Anyway, it is informative as I said, so, for that reason I give it three stars. I would have given it five, if the guy didn't insert his "I'm so smart" opinion as often.

I never say this about school textbooks...but I actually ENJOYED reading this textbook for class! I even read extra pages than what was assigned, and didn't sell it back at the end of the semester. The author is so witty and organizes the page in interesting ways filled with pictures to keep your attention and grab your interest. Great textbook - if you're interested in learning the ropes behind journalism (and how to write it), this is the book for you!

Great book. I use it to teach my Journalism 1 class. Great design. Interesting copy. The only draw back is that it doesn't go in depth on anything. It's definitely a jack of all trades but a master of one. Having said all of that, it's, by far, the best book for an intro to journalism class I've ever seen.

Initially, I was not happy that the book was required for a journalism class I am taking; however, it's very informative and fun to read. The author provides a lot of information and examples. The layout and presentation of the material keeps it from being boring -- one of the better text books i've used

This is an informative book if you've never been exposed to journalism before, and it has some gems for tips, but most of if is simple common sense. That aside, it's also an entertaining read, if only because the author is witty and often includes humorous asides.
