5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible . . . . . . . . .
the three opening songs already show what The Why Store is all about, energy and fun. This record does a bit of everything, blues to rock and back, and they do it all well. Check out the excellent "Still Inside of You" for a real look at how far this band can go. Parts of this track sound like they could be from late Beatles or early Pink Floyd. This...

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't lose your original copy!
I attended Ball State University during The Why Store's heyday and saw countless live performances from this now defunct band. It's sad to see that creative differences split up such a great act that had so much potential, but sadly missed their window of opportunity during their prime. I owned the original copy of this release and clearly remember "Lack of Water" being...

Check out the excellent "Still Inside of You" for a real look at how far this band can go. Parts of this track sound like they could be from late Beatles or early Pink Floyd. This album carries with it an electric energy, a feeling that the band is just having a great time with their music and putting all of that energy into what they record, sounding more effortless than any of the bands later work. This album also has some of the best guitar work of any other record. Anyone into later records by this band, or just into good music in general, should pick this up and check it out.

I attended Ball State University during The Why Store's heyday and saw countless live performances from this now defunct band. It's sad to see that creative differences split up such a great act that had so much potential, but sadly missed their window of opportunity during their prime. I owned the original copy of this release and clearly remember "Lack of Water" being a featured track on this album. After the theft of my entire CD collection near the end of my college days, I went several years before finally purchasing this CD again online, only to find out that "Lack of Water" had tragically been eliminated from this discs tracks. After some research, it appears that it was remixed and remastered for the band's self-titled, major-label release, The Why Store in 1996. I'm not sure why this occurred unless Inside The Why Store was still in print during the release of their major-label debut. My theory is that the suits at the the major-label had it removed from subsequent prints of Inside The Why Store so as not to infringe on sales of the newer disc. Conveniently and ever so coincidintally, "Lack of Water" was released as the major single from the self titled album. At any rate, "Lack of Water", doesn't appear on newer editions of Inside The Why Store and the version that appears on the self titled major-label album is sadly a remixed and remastered shell of the original version. This album could have been so much better if they would have just left it alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of THEEEEE best CD's I have ever listened to!, September 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside the Why Store (Audio CD)
The first time I listened to the Why Store I was very amazed. Not only because I have never heard of the band before, but their talent. I knew that they were a young band because my brother told me that they played mostly at Universities. So, I grabbed the CD from my brother's case and tried a gander. Not only were their music catchy, but very up-beat. A kind of beat that was different to me. It just drove me crazy everytime I listened to this band. They are difiently a great band and a hell of a CD. Watch out for this band because they have many talents. Check your listings for when the Why Store tours your area. Thanks.

Your Pal, Adam Black

As good as `Welcome to the Why Store,' this CD is a keeper. `Inside the Why Store' is just that, an excellent look at what this band can do. Outragously catchy, the Why Store offer up a hip unique sound that will tempt you to play this CD over and over. Original versions of `Lack of Water' and `When You're High' are also a bonus. Buy this CD!
