Book Description

New Issues Poetry & Prose August 1, 2001
Poetry. The dress of INSIDE THE YELLOW DRESS is both the clothing of childhood, of girlhood in particular, and the garment of language we all put on. "This is a book about expectations, about not having any, and about how the language gives us more than we deserve anyway: 'Her mouth is, moving toward / everything.' Everything is just about right to describe the scope of this voice, this amazing book by one of our truly significant poets" - Bin Ramke.

"The splendors of this book are large—and also terrifying. An amazing book by one of our truly significant poets." -- Bin Ramke

5.0 out of 5 stars Poet to Watch, October 11, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside the Yellow Dress (New Issues Poetry & Prose) (Paperback)
Inside the Yellow Dress is a wonderful collection. Samyn's control of language and sparseness spins a world of beauty. Samyn's excellently manipulates the structure of the poem on the page for the greatest effect of tension.

This book is also well-organized. Anyone putting together their first collection of poetry should look to Samyn for ideas on how to do it.

"Inside the Yellow Dress" is a book filled with all the innate emotions of humankind. Whether it be Sadness, Anger, Disgust, Fear, Interest, Surprise, or Happiness ... the reader undergoes a catharsis with every poem. A wonderful book I would suggest to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars No one should be subdued to read this, February 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Inside the Yellow Dress (New Issues Poetry & Prose) (Paperback)
Seriously, all I have to say is that this collection of "poetry" is mere ramblings...uncreative. The author is trying to sound deep, but is failing horribly...It is too "Angry Girl." The only thing that i liked about the book was the cover art.
