5.0 out of 5 stars AspieMom has it wrong
I bought this book specifically because of AspieMom's review. I couldn't believe that a publisher would do what she claims. And they didn't.

The section she refers to in the book is a short, gentle discussion on brain damage and mental illness. The picture on the flap shows two women and one man, all three of whom are saying "I'm the Queen." When you lift...

1.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful has propaganda in it
Imagine my shock when my 7 year old son came and told me "Men can be Queens."

I then lifted a flap that has three gay men to see it say " The Government has trapped my mind inside this body."

Shame on Usborne books filling their products with personal propaganda. I have nothing against different lifestyles, but there is a time and place to...

I bought this book specifically because of AspieMom's review. I couldn't believe that a publisher would do what she claims. And they didn't.

The section she refers to in the book is a short, gentle discussion on brain damage and mental illness. The picture on the flap shows two women and one man, all three of whom are saying "I'm the Queen." When you lift the flap, the first two say that this dumpy bespectacled fella couldn't possibly be the Queen, and he replies, "The government has trapped my mind inside this body." It is quite obvious that not one of them could be "the Queen," and that he's rationalizing. I think AspieMom may have given this book to her son too early, as I found it full of information that would be way above the average 7-year-old. She also obviously didn't read the short lead-in over the little flap.

I think this is a terrific book, but for a kid just a bit older than seven.

Shame on Usborne books filling their products with personal propaganda. I have nothing against different lifestyles, but there is a time and place to discuss this with my child, not for him to read about it in an educational science book.
