Editorial Reviews

Review

Insider Secrets to Moving has more information in one place than I've seen elsewhere. The tips for those who move themselves inludes much of the same information necessary for those who use a mover. From a movers point of view, if the consumer has this information they are better prepared to work with us to complete the mover to their total satisfaction. The guide is well worth the investment. It saves the consumer from pouring through several different pamphlets provided by movers and truck rental companies. -- Rolf Englehardt, Buehler Moving and Storage/Mayflower Transit

From the Author

I am a former executive in the moving industry. I was motivated to write the guide based on experience with informed consumers. When we handled informed consumers, we were better able to meet their service expectations and resolve any problems more quickly. When consumers know how the moving industry operates, what information the mover must have, they don't have unreasonable expectations and are most likely to be completely satisfied with the move. I also believe consumers must review moving company forms and binding contracts before the mover arrives. Once they sign it's too late.

I've included necessary steps and advice for the do-it-yourselfers. The guide covers everything these consumers need to know. How to pack, where to find used boxes, cautions about driving the truck.

The money saving tips are worth the cost of the guide many times over. To back up that statement, I offer a money back guarantee if the reader doesn't find at least one tip worth more than the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for anyone moving., July 5, 1999

This review is from: An Insider Secrets to Moving (Ring-bound)
INSIDER SECRETS TO MOVING is an excellent book. I wish I had it eleven years ago. I know it would have saved me time and money. But most importantly, it would have reduced a lot of the anxiety that goes along with moving.

We've moved many times, and are about to move again. You might think, that after so many moves, I'd be an expert myself. And sure, I know the basics of moving and can pack and load boxes as good as the pros. We've moved ourselves a couple of times, but due to circumstances, we've had to hire movers to do the last few. The one thing, I've never been comfortable with , was choosing the moving company. And after a few incidentals, that decision keeps getting harder. Remember everything you own goes on that truck. I suddenly realized, I didn't know that much about the moving industry. I lacked knowledge, and decided I needed to know more before I chose the movers this time.

I started searching the Internet and came across this wonderful book. The title was perfect, but what impressed me most, was the author's credentials. Who better to write a book about the moving industry, then someone who had been in the business most of his life? I was certainly not disappointed. I read it cover to cover in one evening. 'Insider Secrets' gives great advice on how to pick a potential mover before you pick up the phone. I regret not having that knowledge in prior moves. I would have done things differently and I would have been more confident in my choices. I also would have been able to figure out my own estimate, with the forms in the book, before the moving company company did theirs.

INSIDER SECRETS TO MOVING teaches you how the industry works. The bottom line, it makes you a knowledgable, intelligent consumer. I'm very grateful I found this book. I recommend it to anyone who is about to move, whether it's your first, or you're a veteran like me. Before you call any moving company, or pack one box, read this book. Even if you are doing it all yourself, this book gives great money saving tips and advice you need to know. The information in this book, is valuable to a successful and less stressful move. Thank you, Fred Tiller, for a great book and for helping me be a better consumer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must reading for anyone moving., May 24, 1999

My wife and I have benefited greatly from the information found in Insider Secrets to Moving. It helped us prepare for our move more efficiently, gave us advice on selecting a moving company with greater confidence and substantially reduced our packing costs. It made us feel we had an ally in helping assure a successful move.

We found information not included in moving company recommendations. It explains and offers tips for each phase of the move. The guide clearly describes rights, obligations and choices we had available. The packing information was extremely helpful and saved us from the aggravation of damage and filing a claim. The sample forms and contracts gave us time to review terms and conditions before the mover required us to sign. We think reading Insider Secrets should be everyone's first step in the moving process. Dick and Ginny Vogel

3.0 out of 5 stars Good content - bad presentation, August 29, 2002

When it was listed as spiral bound, I expected a spiral bound book. Instead I received a three ring binder filled with poor photo copies. I bought it because of the reviews and still expect to have the same success with the content as the other reviewers, but it's a bit pricey for a bunch of photo copies, some of which are barely readable.
