For more years than she cares to admit Molly Shomer, LMSW has worked exclusively with seniors and their families, helping them find their way through the "Eldercare Maze."

During the time I've been working with aging Americans and their families I've seen the birth and development of assisted living care. I've watched the industry come of age, and I've walked through the halls of every kind and size of residence. I've talked with hundreds of people who were confused about what it is, about what it can offer, and what it can't. I've helped far too many families relocate elderly loved ones who were in the wrong place because their families didn't know what to look for in advance.

I've also worked with families who were very happy with the facility they chose, and I've learned from these residences how things should be done.

I've read and re-read dozens of Agreements and Contracts. No two contracts are the same, and no two facilities are identical. "The Devil is in the details," as they say. Learning what to look for in an assisted living contract and in the services offered is the key to finding the right place.

This book was invaluable in helping us find an assisted living facility for my sister-in-law. I figured out about half of the questions this book raised - and it was the ones that it raised that saved us from making a HUGE mistake. Through the helpful question and example format, the book was easy to navigate and I found it easy to develop the right question list for us to use when interviewing facilities.
