5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK, December 21, 2006
By
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
This book is definitely for someone wanting to know what it is "really like" to work on a yacht. This book is funny, informative and a good source to find out what mega-yacht life is like, one you will go back and read a second time. Her adventures were delightful and am hoping Julie writes another book soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars I did it!!!! Thanks Julie, June 18, 2008
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
A big thank you to Julie!!!! This book guided me every step of the way. I ordered the book on 3-17-08, and on 6-3-08 I was on my first boat!! Julie not only gives you an accurate view of what working on a yacht is truly like, she includes her own personal accounts out at sea (which, by the way, are quite funny!!). Julie includes EVERYTHING you will need from training, accomodations, to local spots to network in various ports. I bought this book with no real intention on changing my career. I had always wondered about the industry, and once I got the book, I couldnt put it down. The very next day I started taking the steps toward making this dream a reality. You will find Julie's stories entertaining and the book will engage you from page one. If you have ever thought about becoming a yachtie, you MUST HAVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for those aspiring to become yacht crew, December 19, 2006
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
I must confess I didn't buy this book from Amazon but directly from the author at the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show.

This would have been invaluable to me a few years ago when I took the overnight sleeper to the South of France with a tent and box of CV's to seek a career change onto large yachts.

Full of practical advice but entertaining as well this book is an excellent read even if the closest you will ever get a large yacht is standing on the dock.

5.0 out of 5 stars This could be a yacht stew's Bible!, January 2, 2007
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
If ever a book has been available that tells it like it is, as this book does, about the process for landing a dream job in the yachting industry as a Stewardess (OR OTHER CREW MEMBER) aboard multiple million dollar luxury Yachts.........SHAZAMMMM!!! AND BINGO!!!...THIS IS IT!!!!

The book is packed with humor and numerous "innocent" confessions of the author's experiences aboard. It's as close as a complete picture can be for preparing to enter this magnificant industry with more info than you'd ever need to taking the first step to a sucessful career in the ultimate world of travel excitement......immediately securing employment as a fully trained crew member after a minimum of two weeks intense training at the finest training facilities available in the world.

College grads with no immediate plans and looking for the perfect job...ATTENTION...,this is what you've been looking for and didn't even know it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The reading I've done lately! So funny...and a blueprint too., May 25, 2010
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
This book is absolutely a JOY to read. From the Preface to the back cover this book is entertaining form beginning to end! The lovable reading makes the application and instructions that Julie, the author, walks you through actually exciting to follow through with. I took it everywhere until I'd covered everything. I was compelled and frankly didn't want to put it down. It's the best reading I've done lately. This book is robust with instructions and real life application so direct that anyone can apply them to their lives seamlessly!

I also purchased The Magic Touch: How to make $100,000 per year as a massage Therapist by Meagan R. Holub along with Julie's book and my goodness was I ABSOLTELY PLEASED! Anyone looking to switch to a more fulfilling career can benefit from Meagan's book TREMENDOUSLY! She, like Julie, tells you what to do and what not do, to make your career a superior one. From the first chapter `Rubs to Riches' all the way to the `Do's and Don'ts' you'll be entertained while learning. You can't go wrong with either novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun ready and gets me Excited about my new career, October 6, 2008
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
This is a great book if you are considering to work in the industry. There is another book called Working on a Yacht which is written in a more matter of fact way. However this books is very fun and exciting to read. I would recommend it to anyone who is curious. I'm sure all life on a Yacht will not be exactly like the books says but I believe it is a very realistic description of the industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic insight for anyone interested in this career!, May 27, 2008
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
This book is not only a "How To" it's a very good insight on how things really are once you get out on the big sea. The author does a great job by not leading you on that everything is fantastic all the time and tells it like it is. The "I must Confess..." are great additions and I found myself sometimes skipping ahead just to read some of those. I bought this book because I was interested in the profession and couldn't find anything worth reading about it. This is the book to read! And after reading it, I am certain that I am going to Ft. Lauderdale and becoming a Yacht Stew.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insiders Guide for Yacht Stews, December 28, 2010
This review is from: The Insiders' Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess: Confessions from My Years Afloat with the Rich and Famous (Paperback)
This book is amazing. Funny, informative, entertaining, and meticulously detailed. I don't think anyone has done such a good job of actually putting the facts down on paper. This woman is talented! I am a writer in the yachting industry myself, and I am amazed at all of the details of the industry she has brought to life. I really appreciate and admire the tremendous amount of work that went into this. Great balance of info and entertainment.

This book was so well-researched and detailed. I recommend it for anyone considering a career in the yachting business. I wish I had found it sooner! The author includes humorous personal stories which makes it entertaining as well. I especially appreciated the detailed salary information, descriptions of each crew member's responsibilities, and a detailed sample of a typical daily schedule as well as a pronunciation guide to luxury menu items. She thought of everything you need to know and presents it in an easy-to-read format.
