Truly GO Inside Charleston, March 26, 2008
First off, this is not your typical book on the area or history of Charleston. It is not written in the novel format. If that is what you are looking for, this is not.
This book is broken down into chapters that describe in great detail, the following: Area Overview, Directions, History, Restaraunts, Nightlife, Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Inns, Vacation Rentals, Shopping, Antiques, Attractions, Preservation, Tours, The Arts, Annual Events, Kidstuff, Day Trips, Parks, Golf, Boating and Water Sports, Hunting and Fishing, Sports, Relocation, Neighborhoods, Retirement, Health Care, Education, Child Care, Worship, Media, Military and so much more.
The information in those chapters include and is not limited to; a description, phone numbers, url(s), cost, etc.
Truly this is an Insiders' Guide to Charleston. I have been many times and this book details everything I have seen and done and then some.
Not just for the tourist, but for those who might like to relocate to the Holy City.
This book is highly recommended!

Good for Charleston, not so much for islands, August 5, 2007
I bought this book not only to find out about Charleston, but also to get some info on the offshore islands, specifically Folly Beach. Be advised that the island info is absolutely miniscule and the book is definitely NOT recommended if that's one of your main purposes of buying this book.
The book has a ton of history of the area - to the point where I think it's almost too much. Others will love that aspect, I'm sure.
For Charleston proper, it does a very good job of describing the attractions, hotels, restaurants, etc.
