Book Description

Insiders' Guide to the Colleges: Students on Campus Tell You What You Really Want to Know June 26, 2007
For 33 years, The Insider's Guide to the Colleges has been the book most relied-upon by high school students looking for accurate and honest reports on colleges from their fellow students. Edited and written by student reporters at the Yale Daily News and featuring the unfiltered and invaluable commentary from students at over 320 colleges across the U.S. and Canada, the Insider's Guide blends concise statistical data and opinions to provide the most well-rounded profile of life on each campus. After all, college isn't just about the academics, athletics, and the social scene; telling information can also be gleaned from the food options, the quality of dorms, the composition of the student body, and even practical concerns like parking and transportation. The Insider's Guide gives parents and prospective students all the information they need to choose the school that's right for them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for first time college search but..., July 12, 2007
This review is from: The Insider's Guide to the Colleges, 2008: Students on Campus Tell You What You Really Want to Know, 34th Edition (Insiders' Guide to the Colleges: ... Campus Tell You What You Really Want to Know) (Paperback)
It was a waste of time for me for the subsequent college search. I owned a previous edition of this book in 2003, and in the 2008 edition nothing has changed with the exception of average SAT scores and such. The actual written copy is identical to the 2003 version that I owned. They still refer to Villanova's undergrad business school as the College of Commerce and Finance where they changed the name of it to Villanova School of Business two years ago! Too many 'ok' schools are in the book and too many good schools are left out. But the laziness of the publishers to not get back out on the college campuses to write current reviews, instead of using reviews left over from five years ago, just makes this book a waste of money.

Ii was looking at reviews for several large colleges in the south and NONE of them was in this book. Make sure the colleges you need to know about are in this book before you buy.

This book gives extra information not included in the main guides. It has a lot of pros and cons and is very useful
