More About the Author

Best selling author David Domine is a modern-day wordsmith who lived a storied 1895 chateauesque home in Old Louisville, one of the largest historic preservation districts in the country. A series of unexplained occurrences there led him to research the haunted history of the neighborhood, and since then he has delighted countless readers with tales of the supernatural in GHOSTS OF OLD LOUISVILLE: True Stories of Hauntings in America's Largest Victorian Neighborhood and PHANTOMS OF OLD LOUISVILLE: Ghostly Tales from America's Most Haunted Neighborhood. An accredited interpreter and foreign language instructor, he also writes travel pieces and food reviews for various local and national publications. Travel is a great passion for him, and he has lived in the Philippines, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Austria and Germany - all places that allowed him to indulge his passion for food, wine and adventure. He holds post-graduate degrees from the University of Louisville, the University of California at Santa Barbara and Karl-Franzens-Universitat in Graz, Austria. When not writing or teaching, he likes to sneak off with his dogs and hunt down new recipes and ghost stories around his adopted state of Kentucky. One of his most recent projects include a cookbook about new Kentucky cuisine released in 2007 by his alter ego, the Bluegrass Peasant; additional books include HAUNTS OF OLD LOUISVILLE: Gilded Age Ghosts and Haunted Mansions in America's Spookiest Neighborhood (August 2010) and THE BOURBON COOKBOOK (2011).

5.0 out of 5 stars THE travel guide for Kentucky's largest city, May 3, 2010
This review is from: Insiders' Guide to Louisville (Insiders' Guide Series) (Paperback)
This resource made my Kentucky Derby experience all the better. The author definitely knows the places that make his city shine. Where to eat, where to stay, what to do, what to buy - he hits the nail on the head. Had I not bought this guide, I would have completely overlooked the wonderful Victorian neighborhood of Old Louisville, a historic district chock full of spooky old mansions, gracious estates and gaslit alleyways. The author is an expert on all things KENTUCKY and LOUISVILLE and has published a number of books on the area's haunted past and culinary traditions: Splash of Bourbon: Kentucky's Spirit: A Cookbook,Ghosts of Old Louisville: True Stories of Hauntings in America's Largest Victorian Neighborhood,Phantoms of Old Louisville: Ghostly Tales from America's Most Haunted Neighborhood,Haunts of Old Louisville: Gilded Age Ghosts and Haunted Mansions in America's Spookiest Neighborhood, and Adventures in New Kentucky Cooking with The Bluegrass Peasant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide Book, May 20, 2010

Ramsey Brown (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Insiders' Guide to Louisville (Insiders' Guide Series) (Paperback)
The INSIDERS' GUIDE books are generally a terrific resource for those wanting to cross the Pond and do some exploring. INSIDERS' GUIDE TO LOUISVILLE is no exception. The author is an accomplished food, wine and travel writer who knows how to tout the virtues of his city. Tons of useful tidbits for the perfect places to eat, sleep and sight-see in this under-appreciated city. This was an invaluable resource during my last visit to Kenutcky.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY! AN UP-TO-DATE GUIDE FOR DERBY TOWN!, May 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Insiders' Guide to Louisville (Insiders' Guide Series) (Paperback)
It's high time that a comprehensive travel guide came out for Louisville. The last one was more than ten years ago and this one does a wonderful job of letting insiders and outsiders alike know the must-see spots in this great American city. No one other than seasoned travel, food and wine writer David Domine could have done such a thorough job of touting the town's touristic virtues. Buy the Insiders Guide to Louisville, book your flight here and find out for yourself.
