I recently purchased several guidebooks right before a week long trip to Key West. I am glad that I purchased them all but I wanted something to carry with me that would fit in a pocket. This little book was just what I needed (by the way, this guide is about the size of a postcard!). The guidebook had some basic information on popular Key West attractions and general travel tips, including:

* Planning your itinerary

* Getting here, getting around

* Accommodations

* Restaurants

* Attractions

* Outdoor recreation

* Arts and culture

* Nightlife and entertainment

I planned my trip using my full-sized, conventional guides but I carried this one with me while I was there. It had the addresses, phone numbers, hours of operation, etc. of many of the places that I had decided to visit. PLUS (and here is the part that made it worth 5 stars) it has two pop-up maps, one in the front and one in the back. The front map covered the entire key and the map in the back focused on downtown (or "Old Town") Key West. Since the maps folded out of the book they were big enough to see without straining my eyes but not so big that I felt like any more of a tourist than I already did. I will buy another Insiders Guide for my next vacation.

Great little book to keep in your purse. Packed full of info & has 2 pop-out maps.

Its a nice compact version of the larger travel guides with really nice included maps. Because it is compact it can't contain everthing but its a very good start.

I had the Fodors and Frommers books on Key West, but this was the most used book while we were there. I carried it everywhere with me and the maps were great and very handy in such a compact form. My husband loved them too! Everytime we were ready for a restaurant, I'd check the book for the one closest to our current location and then look at the summaries and suggested menu items. It was always on target and we experienced some cool things that we wouldn't have otherwise. Great resource and I highly recommend it!

Except for the map in the front this book is a drag. It only has a handful of hotels and restaurants. I guess I should have known by the size. Even the descriptions are like reading one of those hotel ad books you always get for free. This place serves this and that and is located here, no little extra tidbits or insiders tips at all.

Although small in size, this book is chock full of good information about Key West. I like the two popout maps of the downtown area and greater Key West. It easily fits inside my purse. Although I have several other guides to Key West, I think that this will be the one I keep with me while exploring the area. It arrived on time in perfect condition.

a bit big for a pocket but will fit the cargo shorts side pockets nicely. lots of good stuff and the two pop up maps will really help out the directionally chalenged like me. going to the keys in november and this is definately going with me

The INSIDERS' GUIDE is good little guide. No book on Key West is the complete answer, Key West is constantly changing, but this one of the better books out there. The maps are excellent and the book small enough to carry. Highly recommended for those folks that have never been to this little paradise.

From the Insiders' Guide series, this tiny book (about the size of a small stack of index cards) is designed to be taken not just *to* Key West but along on your person 24/7 while out *in* Key West.

It details getting to and around the island, then describes and lists contact info for sites of interest, recreation, restaurants, bars and a few accommodations. But its gems are the two maps -- one of the whole island, one of downtown. They're fold-out maps (pop-out actually; delightful), detailed and exceptionally readable. Great for locating yourself on the map and then seeing what's nearby. I'll look for more city guides in this format.
