Book Description

October 31, 2001
Thousands of expatriates from all over the world have had to learn the details and intricacies to living in Mexico the hard way – by experience. Reliable and timely information on what to expect from life in Mexico has traditionally been lacking in availability. This problem has been compounded by Mexico’s fast pace of political, economic and social change over the past few years. Relocating to Mexico: The Insider’s Guide to Living in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey fills the void with new and updated information.

It is estimated that around 200,000 foreigners arrive to Mexico each year with the intention of staying over six months, and that the English-speaking community is 500,000 strong. Designed to appeal to a broad audience, The Insider’s Guide is an invaluable resource for companies sending personnel to Mexico, as well as students, entrepreneurs, retirees, cross-cultural trainers, relocation companies and anyone else who might be making a move to Mexico. It can be useful to those who are contemplating a move to Mexico, those in the planning stages, the newly arrived or those who have been in the country for a while. The unique thing about this publication is that foreigners currently living in Mexico write it.

The book gives concrete information on how to get established in Mexico. Beginning with the considerations that should be taken into account before leaving the home country, The Insider’s Guide gives information about the specific steps needed to find and manage a home, handle finances, stay healthy, find schools for children and much more.

This review is from: The Insider's Guide to Living in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey (Paperback)
As a first time visitor to Mexico I did not know what to expect when I was leaving my home country. I had questions abut the culture differences, the living styles, which places to visit and much more. Finally I came across The Insiders Guide to Living in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. This wonderful book contained valuable information that answered most of my questions and also gave me insight on handling finances, finding schools to attend and even how to manage a home. One of the most helpful aspects to this publication was that it was written by foreigners already living in Mexico. When I returned to Mexico to study I felt a lot more prepared on how to make a living for myself in this foreign country. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking to travel, retire, do business or even permanently move to Mexico.
