An invaluable guide to search tools, newsgroups and more!,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Insider's Guide to Mental Health Resources Online, 2000/2001 Edition (Paperback)
The 2000/2001 edition of this invaulable guide explains and evaluates the range of search tools, newsgroups and database available online: while it may prove outdated in a year or to, The Insider's Guide to Mental Health Resources Online will receive intense use by any student of mental health studies who uses the computer to search for information. The Insider's Guide to Mental Health Resources Online is more than a listing service: descriptions of each make it easy to locate just the right site.

only for the very computer illiterate,
This review is from: The Insider's Guide to Mental Health Resources Online, Revised Edition (The Clinician's Toolbox) (Paperback)
Very dissapointing text. Really only for the extremely computer illiterate. If you can operate a search engine and chat with colleagues about available resources this book will not help you at all. It includes the very basics about how to find psych websites, list serves, etc. If you know nothing about finding info on the internet you may want to pick this up. Other than that do not waste your time and money

This review is from: The Insider's Guide to Mental Health Resources Online, 2000/2001 Edition (Paperback)
Excellent resource for optimizing ones ability to connect to the vase resources on the Internet/Web. Well organized, especially helpful to the new self taught cybernaut by providing concise explanations of terms/abbreviations

First rate,

This review is from: The Insider's Guide to Mental Health Resources Online (Hardcover)
Grohol and Zuckerman have compiled a wealth of data on all aspects of mental resources available online. From scientific research material for professionals to self-help sites for the layperson to FAQ fright-sites for specific disorders, this book covers it all. A worthy effort by the authors indeed, though I have not been able to get any of the links to work.

I had to buy this book...,
By

...for a class I'm taking. It's easy enough to read and has some good information in it. Some of the links it suggests are outdated, and much of the material is rather elementary. If you already know how to search on the internet, you probably won't find much of anything new in here. It's not a book I would have bought if I didn't have to have it for this class.
