Brilliant Commentary on Science and Culture,
This review is from: Insight-Imagination: The Emancipation of Thought and the Modern World (Paperback)
This book, ostensibly a book about education, is much more than that. Sloan has written a superb critique of the western mind's fascination with the scientific world-view, and the belittling consequences that this fascination has had upon the human soul. It responds brilliantly both to the forces of fundamentalism and the forces of atheism. Written with a rare combination of elegance and clarity, it is a book that can open minds and hearts to a much deeper understanding of our civilization.

Transforming,
By Former Student (Berkeley, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Insight-Imagination: The Emancipation of Thought and the Modern World (Paperback)
A good book is one that has interesting useful information, a very good book gives you principles to apply to an analysis of phenomena, but a great book includes the latter but transforms the framework of peceptions so that you never look at things in the same way again. This is a great book.
