My friends and I bought several books before going to Japan on vacation, but this was by far the most useful. It's far more than just a map. It has everything you need...all the top sights are listed, from museums to shrines to shopping areas, and all are easily referenced on the map. With all that info in one place you don't need to carry around big guidebooks. We constantly consulted the map, and it was spot on and easy to read for such a large and confusing city. Not only that, it is tough and stands up to constant use and being shoved into bags. Next time I go abroad I am going to just buy one of these for each city I visit and leave the rest to exploration.
