In one book, Dr. Zak has created a treasury of practical information for people with trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathic facial pain, and anesthesia dolorosa. From cover to cover, this book is full of practical hints about pain management and facts about diagnosis and causes of neuralgia, medications, surgical treatments and more. Recent statistics about surgical procedures...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you can buy only one get "Striking Back..." instead
A disappointing book with so many grammatical and typological errors that one wonders how it made it through editing. In some cases the mistakes are clinically significant and potentially confusing unless one already knows some of the material. There is not much that is new here, a primer of what can already be found online. In some ways it is worse than searching online...

Recent statistics about surgical procedures are included. What I like most of all about Insights is that Dr. Zak presents psycho-social information about living with facial pain. Readers will find that they are not alone, but that they have much in common with other people who have facial pain. Truly insightful!

A disappointing book with so many grammatical and typological errors that one wonders how it made it through editing. In some cases the mistakes are clinically significant and potentially confusing unless one already knows some of the material. There is not much that is new here, a primer of what can already be found online. In some ways it is worse than searching online because there is no index. It's impossible to find the areas of particular interest, such as the latest medication to try. For those uncomfortable with internet searching I recommend one of the other titles.

This book provides a comprehensive summary on many options for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. I found it to be very useful in understanding the condition. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Treatment overview and summarized stories, January 19, 2008
This review is from: Insights Facts and Stories behind Trigeminal Neuralgia (Hardcover)
For treatment information and patient experience overviews this is a very good book. If you are looking for one person's story of life with trigeminal neuralgia and the personal day to day struggles to overcome it I recommend Carol Jay Levy's A PAINED LIFE, a chronic pain journey, characterized by the American Chronic Pain Association as "hard to put down." and by Stephen Hall, A NY Times magazine writer, as "A fascinating story, honestly told and courageously lived."
