We received this portable DVD player as a gift about a year and a half ago, and it has been used maybe 15-20 times. It was a fine product while it worked, but now it will not recognize any DVD's--after attempting to load a disk it just says "no disc". A quick google search reveals this is a common problem for this model.

My loving wife bought this player for me and it was terrific while it lasted. It was in storage for about nine months and only had about 30 hours on it. I broke it out the other day to find out that it will no longer work properly....sound and no picture. After calling the store where we purchased it (Insignia happens to be the store brand) the snot nosed customer service rep suggested we kick down more money for a new one. Sorry for your bad luck is all you get in this disposable/non brand name/useless customer support/multi attractive fetured piece of crap.

Utterly worthless.,
This review is from: Insignia 10.2" 10.2 Inch Portable DVD Player Ns-pdvd10 (Electronics)
Insignia isn't truly a 'brand' per se. It appears to be a name that Best Buy puts on products they contract to have manufactured at various companies. My first Insignia portable DVD player was well made and lasted 5 years of nightly use before giving up the ghost. I purchased this new model with some misgivings: The finish seemed much more flimsy and the overall quality seemed diminished compared to my last model. Woe to those of us who do not pay heed to their initial instincts...what a piece of junk! The player only recognized and played DVDs 75% of the time (and yes I was using the proper region). Frequently there was a horrible grinding sound as it attempted to load. Disney DVD's simply don't register on this player for some reason. Lastly the screen has gone completely white and cannot be fixed. I have had this player for about 2 months and have played it for about 30 minutes nightly. Needless to say it is going back to Best Buy today, and Insignia has been banned from my household. Instead of spending your cash on this player just throw it into the air and watch it get carried away on the breeze. The experience will be just as rewarding for you, and you will deprive Best Buy from profiting on your misfortune.
