I Aboslutely love this DVD player! I bought it for $119 and it was worth every penny. I bought this one because it was inexspensive, but it turned out to be much higher quality than you would expect. The Screen is large and bright, with controls for brightness, contrast, hue, saturation. It plays any kind of disc you can think of. The remote is nice too, its very small. The motor is very quiet,you can barely hear the sound of the disc spinning. I also Like the two headphone jacks. My nephew and I can watch a movie in the car, and both can listen to it. Also If you want headphones and the other person wants to listen through the speakers, you can plug headphones in jack 2 and it will play through the 1 pair of headphones and the speakers. The adapter that it comes with lets you plug a TV soource IN or OUT of the DVD player. So u can use it as a TV for your Satellite receiver, or use it as a DVD player for a larger TV. My home DVD player recently broke, so I have been using this as my home DVD player since. I have had one single problem with this. One day in July I was watching a movie and the disc stopped spinning and wouldn't play. I called Insignia, and they helped me every step of the way. They told me to open it up, cut off the lens cover, (im just kidding!) I called them and talked to them for 6 minutes and solved the problem. It was condenstation on the lens from our central air conditioning. I let it sit outside for 30 minutes and the water on the lens all dryed up and the DVD player was working again! This is a quality DVD player that I would reccomend to anybody.

This is one of the more economical players and does everything well. I really like the flywheel controls which control the volume and screen brightness - very easy to operate. Picture is good - at least as good or better than some more expensive players. Some other portable players in this price range have very poor sound (low volume), but not this. It can play very loudly if you choose to. Unfortunately, I have to return it because it does not play VCD's. However, if you do not have VCD's and want an economical DVD player, look no further. This player (and most portable players) does not have the fast forward/backward buttons on the unit (only on the remote). I fail to see the use of a remote when a "portable" unit will probably right on your lap.

I bought this dvd player brand new from the store in May 2005. By December it stopped working. Luckily I had a 2 yr service agreement, so I got a new one for free. That one broke 5 months later. I didn't use the product very often, but when used it had great picture and sound. Regardless, after 2 broken players in one year, I decided to switch to a different brand. My advice--buy a different brand or buy a service agreement!!

This is a great dvd player worth every penny in your wallet.

Durable-(any portble electronic device with an lcd screen will break easily so it is a good idea to get a case)

We've had this for one year now and my 2 year old uses it every day. It gets dropped, banged, and he constantly changes the discs and pushes buttons. He's drooled on it and dropped crumbs inside the playing area. We use the car power cord and the indoor power cord- and take them with us everywhere we go because sometimes the player goes under 2 hours and it's needing a recharge. I never thought it would last this long. It really survives the abuse! This was the cheapest DVD player on display at Best Buy when we got it. I think we payed about $[...]. If you are looking for something to haul around in the car or use for your kids- this is a good deal.

I was loving this DVD player the first few times we used it. It has a good picture and sound. However, now it freezes up mid-movie and will not play through unless you either bang it or remove the movie and start it over. Not a good option when you use it in the backseat of the car on road trips. I know I didn't pay a lot for it but I still think it should last at least six months. I think we have played a dozen movies total on it. I am really disappointed. I will never purchase this brand AGAIN!

Insignia 7" portable DVD player:
First one I bought was an "open box" for $79.99 at Future Shop end of November '05 (they were out of them at the $99.99 sale price & ensured me the open boxes were fine in every way & would be replaced over the counter with a new one if there were any problems).

I had uncertanties about the player, ... sometimes in playing it would skip, freeze, garble the music. I would press stop & then it wouldn't play again unless I took the disc right out & put it in again. The last straw was when I turned it on one day & the Insignia opening screen was all garbled -- & still garbled when I put a disc in. Later in the day it worked fine, but I just didn't trust it any more.

Early in January 2006, when I returned it to the store, they said I would have to replace it for another "open box". Which of course I wasn't thrilled about after having problems.

There were no "open boxes" around, so I grabbed a new one. They then insisted I'd have to pay the difference between the $79.99 & the current price of $149.99!! I argued & after "talking to a manager" around the corner, they charged me the difference between what the sale price was back when I bought it, compared to the open box price. Not what they told me when I bought it.

The new player I picked up seems to have problems too? I've used it a couple times now. The reviews all seem quite good for this player over at the Future Shop site (but then they apparently don't post any bad reviews!!!?) I am interrupted when I watch this dvd player, so I use the pause & stop button. I then very often can not get it to play again!! Have to open & close it/sometimes have to take the disc right out. Does anybody else have this problem?

Otherwise, the picture is good, sounds all right & can be connected to speakers through the headphone jack.

I am still really surprised by this DVD player. We bought it for my daughter in 2006, and it is still our go-to player when our home DVD players breakdown. In fairness, I did buy this for someone else, and the screen stopped working for them not long after, but it was quickly replaced by best buy. But for us, we haven't had a problem. We have had issues with our home DVD players, and we always turn to this as a substitute. It still amazes me. Good product for the money. I doubt they still make this, but if you can find it cheap, pick it up!

it's amazing for the price ! i love it,it's good to get one for each kid 'cause they might not agree on the same movie, or just get two , or if it's for yourself it's cool.
