3.0 out of 5 stars Not so bad...3 1/2 stars...
I actually enjoyed listening to this album, but I was a bit disappoited too. The songs are very much like the songs in serpents of the light, and this is probably their weakest album, and the lyrics aren't so creative. But they still play great music, and if you're a big deicide fan, I'm sure you'll love this album...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Accept Insineratehym - Yes I Do, April 24, 2004
This review is from: Insineratehymn (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite albums in my Deicide collection. I brought it somewhere in the summer of 2000 but long before the release of it, the song Bible Basher was leaked as an MP3 on an old Deicide site called the Behead The Prophet site which later became the Insineratehym site to commemerate the upcoming release of the album. At the time, I didn't have a mechanism to download MP3's. So I couldn't download and listen to the song. Than after while, all the songs were leaked out as MP3's and many people started saying a lot of really bad stuff about it as if it was going to be Deicide's worst album. I always knew that Deicide wasn't just going to go into a studio and spend their hard-learned money and produce and put out an album that sucks. That was jus not going to happen. So anyway, I couldn't download MP3's. So I was just going to have to wait until the album was released. So when the date of its release came, I went to the Spec's music store close to where my grandparents lived and brought the album. Than, I took it home to listen to it and like always, Deicide delivered. Yeah, there were people who brought it and some of them loves it, some liked it, some thought it was OK and some thought it was a piece of trash. So as you can see, the album got mixed reviews, even in the magazine press but I was one of the many who loved it. I loved it and that's all that mattered.

Now for my review. With this album, it's another new direction for Deicide. The heaviness, brutality, intensity, aggression and evil are all here. There are plenty of solos, killer riffs and blast beats. There are some slow, medium-paced and fast songs. The production and sound are chucky and heavy. The lyrics are still Anit-God and Anit-Christainity but a little bit but more personal. The "Hail Satan" thing makes a return but without any emphasis on things like Satanism, sacrifice, necronomicon and that kind of thing. The themes are about insulting God and Christains, refusing to convert to Christainity as a show of repentence and the foolishness of Christains who feel that they must suffer for their faith. Plus, there's a song called The Gift The Keeps On Giving who's lyrics are pretty much in the same vain as This Is Hell We're In from Serpents Of The Light. All in all, it's a really awesome killer album. Some of my favorite songs here are Bible Basher, Standing In The Flames, Halls Of Worship, Suffer Again and Apocalyptic Fear. Get this album and prepere to be insinerated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satan gets FUNKY!, July 8, 2000
By
emperorcaligula (Glen Burnie, MD.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Insineratehymn (Audio CD)
Satan's most loyal servants Deicide are back on what is sure tobe the most hotly debated album amongst their following (of which I ama member). "Insineratehymn" (clever title) shows a newly found maturity in the evil ones; the band now adding all matter of bizarre time changes, slow, crunchy bridges, and some truly inventive riffs courtesy of the Hoffman brothers (that's Eric and Brian) to create their first truly standout album from the rest of their impressive catalogue of old-school death metal. The blastbeats now have taken a backseat to darker, heavier passages, and Lord Benton (that's Glen) here exercises more restraint with his vocal cords, sounding much more natural, yet still possessing that unmistakable "dual-tone" roar of his...best songs being "Apocalyptic Fear" with it's Slayer/Bay Area thrash influences, "The Gift That Keeps On Giving" with it's weird song structure (technical complexity is this album's biggest trademark), and "Forever Hate You" with Deicide's best guitar work to date, reminding me a lot of the kind of thing Possessed (remember them?) and Death used to crank out. Two factors, however, caused me to stop short of giving this disc the full five: 1) The production is a bit thin in spots, particularly the snare drum and rhythym guitar, occasionally sapping some of the heaviness of some of the material (no Scott Burns this time around to helm the mixing board), and, 2) while the song titles and lyrics are now much less tacky this time around, The band still continues to write entire albums with the same archaic Satan/Christ-bashing themes that have long since lost their shock value. Compared to some of their modern peers (particularly the numerous black metal bands coming out of Scandinavia these days, with their almost poetic approach to occult lyrics), Benton's rants are sounding increasingly juvenile and embarrassing. Nonetheless, Deicide here show that they still are the kings of old-school death metal. Check your brains at the door, dust of your baphomet, and meet me in the pit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Headbang Til' You Drop, October 18, 2004
By
This review is from: Insineratehymn (Audio CD)
Deicide's Insineratehymn is another great album from the Florida death metal kings themselves. This album is more slower than their older stuff, but it's still heavy and brutal enough to make you bang you head throughout. Vocalist/bassist Glen Benton's deep growls just keep getting stronger. The opening track Bible Basher is loaded with piledriving drum blasts courtesy of frienzied double kick drummer Steve Asheim and headbanging guitar riffs that just grab you by the throat, while Forever Hate You is a good slow number with chugging solos from guitarists Eric and Brian Hoffman. Other great songs include Standing In The Flames, Apocalyptic Fear, and Halls Of Warship. Get this album now, if you enjoy true and pure death metal. Deicide Rules!!!

First off, the 'one star' reviewer below me is either mentally retarded or a christian so don't listen to him or her, second of all, this is my favorite deicide/death metal album ever. This is to death metal what the 'misfits earth A.D.' is to punk. This album is fast, furious, raw and mind blowing. You can also understand what the lead singer is growling about. Buy this album if you know what good death metal is all about. If you don't know what the hell you're talking about, then don't write in a review, when it comes to deicide your opinion doesn't count.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOT THEIR BEST BUT THEIR HEAVIEST!, April 16, 2002
This review is from: Insineratehymn (Audio CD)
This album took awhile to actually grow on me. However, it was well worth the wait. Deicide are death metal masters and this album shows it. They keep the speed and brutality yet they also add a new heaviness to the songs (as seen on Serpants of the Light). The CD opens with Bible Basher which just grabs you by the throat and tears it in half. The other key tracks on this album are Standing in the Flames, Apocalyptic Fear, and the classic Worst Enemy. Worst Enemy has one of the heaviest evil riffs of all time (second only to Father Baker's). I definatley recommend this to any Deicide fan and fan of any death metal. Satan will rule his world!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing - I don't know what "Louis Pattison" is smoking...., July 4, 2000
This review is from: Insineratehymn (Audio CD)
Louis: You're obviously NOT a fan of the genre. If you were, you would realize that while this album is not groundbreaking, it IS some amazing death metal. Deicide has lived up to my expectations and surpassed them. Why don't you leave the reviewing to people who do not, like yourself, listen to Marilyn Manson?

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst DEICIDE album ever unfortunately, August 18, 2000

Man, this is just horrible! I was expecting so much more from DEICIDE. Steve's drumming has hit an all time low. This album sounds very uninspired to me. I love DEICIDE, but this one was extremely dissapointing. I wouldn't recommend this CD to anyone. I hope they get back on the right path as DEICIDE were just not meant to be a slow band!

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly F*ckin Evil, July 3, 2004
This review is from: Insineratehymn (Audio CD)
I'll never be a huge fan of satanic metal or any anti-god lyrics, but, these motherf*ckers are very fast--and thats what I listen to metal for.Benton is just another loser whose angry at god and loves to wine about it.F*ck him and his bullsh*t lyrics. The speed on this album is amazing and thats what makes it worth buying. Its great the way alot of evil metal bands garuntee you fast,mind-warping velocity but often degrade it by growling dark nonsense...I suppose thats what makes it all the more powerful.Get it-just brush off the vocals.
