5.0 out of 5 stars This series gets better and better
I was eager to read this book after having enjoyed the first book in the series.

I was not disappointed.

If anything, this book had a better plot than the first book.

And the characters are really taking shape - they are interesting

and some of them are really funny.

A great read for all lovers of good detective...

2.0 out of 5 stars Read this when you want to fall asleep
Another mystery to solve by the mathematically-minded Japanese duo - but is it worth reading about? I don't think so. The author describes his locations in better detail than his protagonists so the only feel I have for Morimoto and his assistant Suzuki is intelligent calm. And a story without some stress is a dull one. I appreciate the humor as overeager insurance...

I read both Morimoto series, and this second one looks much better in terms of its plot. I love both of them, though.

I was really enthusiasted when Morimoto and his team developed deception to prove who's in charge of burglaries. It was even funny because some characters are similar to characters in Japanese comics.

This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Diamond Pendants: A Detective Story set in Japan (Paperback)
I enjoyed the mystery, the humor and the setting in Japan.
As we learn more about Morimoto and Suzuki (and Yamada and the chief) they become more interesting.
A very enjoyable and entertaining read.
I hope Hemion continues the series soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another award winner., August 11, 2004
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Diamond Pendants: A Detective Story set in Japan (Paperback)
I thought the first book in the series was great but this really was even better! How could anybody think up a plot like that? I've read a lot of mystery stories but this one has one of the purest plots you'll come across. At first it doesn't make sense but then in the end you can see how reasonable it is. It's all about human nature - no gimmicks. Does anybody know if there's a third book?

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets, June 17, 2004

I like reading mystery books, and this is one of the best books that I've read. The story is relatively short, but long enough to feel what the author tries to show us under an incident.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very good!, August 14, 2004
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Diamond Pendants: A Detective Story set in Japan (Paperback)
A very, very good detective/mystery story in a style of its own. The characters build nicely from the first book. Lots more matter to stimulate the little grey cells of the brain. A satisfying solution and ending. Highly recommended to mystery addicts like myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice character development!, October 12, 2004
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Diamond Pendants: A Detective Story set in Japan (Paperback)
This book followed on well from the first book in the series, and the characters became more rounded and fleshed out. They are well written - I really cared about them. The Chief reminds me of my own boss. The plot had me absorbed - very tricky! This book deserves a lot of credit. I'm really looking forward to the next installment in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthreading story, September 16, 2004

This second book of the series is a very good one. I liked it very much because one has to think a lot to find the solution. The author gave no hint but at the end the plot is very logical. Inspector Morimoto and Officer Suzuki are ingenious thinkers but nevertheless, they remain on earth. To put it in a nutshell, the author did a very good job and I am curious about the third book. One can't be disappointed by this books.

Timothy Hemion must have an exuberant imagination and this book shows his potentiality without regret. The relationship between Inspector Morimoto and his chief, the relationships among the suspected persons and the descriptions about the officer of the insurance company etc..... This book is closer to real situation than first one and it has power that makes readers be addicted to. I really expect Morimoto and suzuki's journey in the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent sequel!!!, August 14, 2004
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Diamond Pendants: A Detective Story set in Japan (Paperback)
This book could be 6 stars - it's better than the first book of the series.

It's intruiging and funny.

I like the Chief of Police best of all - I know some people like him.

I'm waiting for the next book in the series.
