5.0 out of 5 stars Another great detective story!, November 7, 2004
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter: A Detective Story Set in Japan (Paperback)
Timothy Hemion has written another great detective story. His books are very enjoyable, and this is turning into a remarkable series. His stories offer a delightful balance of a strong mystery plot, together with descriptions of life in Japan, and entertaining characters. The decriptions of the Japanese pottery in this book are very interesting, and the range of colorful characters is also a strong point of the story. And as always with Hemion's books, the "mathematical" complexity of the plot provides the foundation. I strongly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book in the series!, November 30, 2004
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter: A Detective Story Set in Japan (Paperback)
Timothy Hemion gets better with each book. This was fantastic - it has everything the mystery reader could want. It's a wonderful setting. Where can I buy some of that Bizen pottery? This book is longer than the first two and is more enjoyable. Once you start reading it you just have to keep going.
Timothy, please publish the fourth book soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice and funny., January 25, 2005
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter: A Detective Story Set in Japan (Paperback)
The end of this book is especially enjoyable. And it's fun where the chief is described in all of his TV-obsession - really nice and funny.
The chief must be so proud of the new squad cars.
It is interesting to see the strange arrogance of the guilty person, requesting respect, still proud of what had been done.
I would be interested about the information on pottery which is in the famous red leather-covered book... how can I get a copy?
It was very enjoyable reading this good book.

This is an exciting story. I am very pleased to know that the author is interested in Bizen pottery which is so famous around Okayama. Timothy Hemion always writes exciting mystery stories that keep you guessing and turning the pages. Now I am looking forward to reading the new books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to Bizen pottery!, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter: A Detective Story Set in Japan (Paperback)
The third book in the Inpsector Morimoto series teaches us all about Bizen pottery in Japan. It sounds pretty interesting and I checked out some websites where you can see a lot of examples of the pottery. Basically, it's one of the traditional Japanese pottery styles that goes back over 1000 years. This book is longer than the first two books in the series and just as enjoyable. The plot is perhaps not so complex as in the other stories, but this is complemented by the pottery discussions. This book also has a wider array of characters. The Chief of Police is hilarious, and Inspector Morimoto and Officer Suzuki follow their usual style - clever and amusing. This is a truly great detective series that offers a new approach to the genre. I really recommned it and am very much hoping there will be more books in the series soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book taught me a lot about Japan!, February 9, 2005
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter: A Detective Story Set in Japan (Paperback)
I have recently finished reading the third book, 'Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter'. It is a great book. The plot was great, it gripped me from the beginning, and it didn't give the mystery away until the end. The book has also taught me a lot about Japan, especially the making of Bizen pottery. Morimoto and Suzuki are very clever!

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping book that has an interesting subject matter!, January 3, 2005
This review is from: Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter: A Detective Story Set in Japan (Paperback)
"Inspector Morimoto and the Famous Potter" is an interesting detective novel that concerns a famous potter's death and his family members' questionable deaths and it generates a lot of curiosity in the readers.
Timothy Hemion uses characters who have already appeared in his first and second books, and in this third book he also creates more characters. When reading the third book the reader has to guess from among more possibilities. Timothy Hemion gives a shock to the readers at the end of the book.
Also, after reading this book it's fun to imagine what kind of characters will appear in the fourth book and other books. I compliment Timothy Hemion on his ability to write about such an interesting subject matter.

Timothy Hemion's third book in the Inspector Morimoto series is the best book in my opinion. It is very clever to make a plot around the Bizen pottery which is a famous thing in Okayama. Timothy Hemion did a lot of research into Bizen pottery. The new characters in this book are interesting and fun. This book has an exciting ending. We are all looking forward so much to the next book in the series. Please keep writing Timothy Hemion!
