A wonderful Christmas gift. Perfect picture. Got all ready to enjoy the whole set. But unfortunately I need closed-captioning to view the DVD and I discovered that this set did not have it. I'm extremely disappointed because Morse was one of my favorites (Guess I heard better in those days) Anyone know if there are Morse DVDs with CC?

This is a great show to watch if you are a mystery enthusiast. Morse is a classic character. This season (or whatever the set of episodes is called) brought the drama as well. Some really good episodes on this one, might be my favorite set so far (I think it's the fourth, not positive though). Only six 1.5 hour episodes, you will be done with them before you can blink, and ready to buy more. They are pricey, no doubt, but I'll definitely be getting the next one, so to me they are worth it.

The DVDs worked great for me, I read some complaints about playback but I didn't have any issues whatsoever with playback. They aren't the best quality DVDs I ever received, but they aren't flawed.

Also, I read some reviews that stated the audio is very difficult to hear. I turned off all surround sound settings on my TV, and it made the audio somewhat better, although you might still have to turn the volume up. Not a problem IMO though.

A friend of mine said he and some of his colleagues were confused about the order of episodes. If you look on Wikipedia (search for Inspector Morse Episodes): [...]
you'll see a list of episodes. The DVD collection sets are staggered compared to the series listed, but they do follow the order of the episodes on that webpage.

All in all, great product. IMO, this show is superior to shows such as Law and Order, CSI, or other similar American shows.

*** Update: just got a Samsung Blu-Ray player, and these DVDs look and sound much better. Good up-convert.

Intricate plots are standard with Inspector Morse, but in this series the intricate relationship between Morse & Lewis is woven deftly into the plot of each episode. Simply superb.

I have always enjoyed watching the Inspector Morse mysteries on PBS and A&E. However, A&E has changed a once vibrant, artistic format to garbage, plain and simple. Since the death of John Thaw, the actor who portrayed the melancholy Inspector Morse, even PBS has ceased to show these wonderful dramas. Thank God for Amazon, because now I can continue to purchase my favorite Inspector Morse mysteries and thoroughly enjoy them again as well. Thank you!!!

This box of detective programs is as good as you're going to see; it ranks with the best A Touch of Frost. Each program is challenging intellectually and contains the highest quality of acting and photography. This is a tribute to the late John Thaw and to the inspired crew behind each film.

Inspector Morse: Dead on time is a collection of well written plots and interesting characterizations. We enjoyed every selection and would give the set as a gift to friends.

If you like Inspector Morse you should not be disappointed. I would buy it again.

I was worried that the video would not make it for the party but it came in the nick of time.

we are big fans of Inspector Morse and looked forward to receiving the series. The first tape is flawed and the show interrupted. I am disappointed in Amazon; I paid more to buy the series from Amazon rather than a third party so am doubly disappointed.
