This is a very well produced CD that I highly recommend not just to Brooklyn Bridge fans, but also to anyone who enjoys smooth jazz and R&B gospel.
The stand out track on his CD is the English translation of "Ave Maria." I have a few versions of this song and I have to say THIS version is simply the best one I have ever heard. Johnny sounds great and the harmonies are tight. There is also an interesting story to this CD that is worth reading in the liner notes.

Probably the last original recording by Johnny Maestro and maybe of his best performances ever.,

The Cd is a re-release of an earlier CD with a new title. Even though I knew of it's exsistance over the last 10 years I did not buy it (even though I am a huge Brooklyn Bridge fan and have seen them in concert at least 20 times since 1969). I am not a religous person and I didn't want a CD of what I perceived as religous songs. Boy was I wrong. I finally bought this CD shortly after Johnny's death having been at one of his last performances. This album is now properly titled "Songs of Inpiration". Most people will still think of it as a religously themed album and that's OK because that may have been the original intent, but songs like the Beatles "Let It Be" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" while spirtual in nature are not religous songs. In the end it is the performances that make this CD work so well. Johnny is in great voice (maybe some of his best work). The arrangements by (original founding member) Tommy Sullivan are so unique, that each song is performed in a way that makes them sound completely new yet so familiar. The Bridge even dare to tackle a whole new arrangement of their own classic take on "You'll Never Walk Alone". The easy way would have been to just add their own re-recorded version of the arrangement they did on their 3rd album (and have closed every show with since the 70's)but this new and competely different arrangement makes it sound as if they had never done it before and they ended up creating a whole new classic.
If you are a fan of the Brooklyn Bridge you must have this CD. It will inspire you even if like me you are not a religous person.

Great interpretations by one of the best ever singers of pop music history. Johnny Maestro's voice is just like it has ever been: strong, warm and clear but with a distinct touch of sadness. All tracks can be found on their self produced CD however.
