I never grow tired of listening to this CD. I saw Lynne and her trio here in Chicago at the Jazz Showcase last January and thought they were very special. She is an incredibly inventive pianist and her bassist and drummer supply formidable support. Highlights for me are her pointilistic interpretation of Monk's "Bemsha Swing" and her slow, slinky version of "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)." I feel priviledged to have been introduced to a musician who deserves wider recognition. If you like jazz piano in a trio setting I can't imagine you being disappointed in this disc.

From the intimate clubs of the world to the stage at Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Lynne Arriale continues to prove why she is the First Lady of Melodic Jazz. I do not believe that I can adequately describe her music and that of the great Lynne Arriale Trio, and so I would encourage you to listen to some of the "cuts" here at Amazon. Not only is Lynne an excellent composer, she and her trio interpret the music of other's like no one else. Listen to their interpretation of Burt Bacharach's "A House Is Not A Home" and see if it doesn't rip your heart out. I cannot recommend the music of the Lynne Arriale Trio enough. Why not take a moment and enrich your life buy making a purchase of the Trio's latest release: Inspiration. And, while you're at it, if you don't have their other recordings, may I suggest to add them to your music library as well. You will NOT be disappointed. I am happy to end this review in the way I most often like to: DAYTON SAYS: BUY THIS CD.

This is without doubt a very inspired album that carries you into another dimension. Relax and enjoy an inspired album; very well recorded as if you were at an intimate night club where you can feel the music. This album shows that it is still possible to create a new sound - a new voice in jazz without ignoring melody.

Before purchase, I had heard two tracks from this CD and liked them both. Arriale's playing is sensitive and distinctive, and I especially enjoyed her arrangements of "A House is Not a Home" and "Mountain of the Night". The bass and drum musicians complemented her style beautifully.

This is one of the finest most awesome cds of all time. A must buy CD.George
