I began reading Evelyn Horan's books with her "Jeannie, Texas Frontier Girl" four book series, and I have been a committed fan from that day. Each of her books is not only a delight to read but purposeful as well. What a pleasant surprise it was to discover that this remarkable Lady is not only a talented author but a poet too! I was immediately captivated by Horan's story poems. For me, growing up and reading "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes convinced me poetry is word music. Evelyn Horan brought back those joyous memories with the offerings in her newest book, Inspirational Readings and Poetic Rhymes.

Evelyn Horan has proven herself to be an author of many talents, one who writes fiction for children and young adults as well as nonfiction and poetry. The book is exactly what the title says: inspirational. Ms. Horan has compiled an anthology of short stories, essays, and poetry dealing with humanity, nature, and religion. Of particular interest to this reader was the interesting and delightful poem about a pioneer's journey along the Oregon Trail. Also, of special interest was a short story about her German immigrant grandmother's voyage to America and her experiences once she arrived. Vast arrays of human emotions are explored with eloquence and great insight in this collection. Poems are in abundance and are exceptional, some of which were written by the author as a teenager. Absolutely a must-have, must-read book.
