Hearts that yearn to pray more effectively and with greater depth will find this book stimulating, challenging and helpful. I made it required reading for my seminary students in a course on Evangelism and Church Growth. When the evaluations came back this text and the application got high marks. I distribute it to those in my church who have a "prayer bent" to encourage, inform, challenge and to say "thank you" for their intercessory role.

This is one of my favorite books on prayer. One of the reasons is because he quotes so many wise people and motivates me to grow in my prayer life. Very motivational! If you if read this with a humble attitude to apply it you will be helped a ton! You should also read his other popular book on prayer Hour That Changes the World, The: A Practical Plan for Personal Prayer

While obviously well intended, the author fails to convey and adequately support the man points. The book is nearly completely written with quotes from other authors and even quotes of other authors quoting other authors. There are many times where I felt the author missed the opportunity to support his point with scripture when there were many obvious passages to choose from. If you want a great book on prayer, cut out the middle man and find a biography on George Mueller, of whom Eastman quotes numerous times.

This book was for my brother, who said it's a very good and helpful book. He's a Pastor.
