This book is a guide for anyone interested in creating wire jewelry. Cynthia Wuller begins by teaching wireworking basics, then presents new skills with every chapter. The book flows from making basic wire components to creating complex hand-shaped linked jewelry. Beginners can start with chapter one and gain intermediate skills by the end of the book; more experienced wireworkers will still learn new techniques and perfect their wireworking abilities.
Hi and thanks for visiting my page! I've been making jewelry since my teens. I find metal working to be a great outlet for my need to create. There's something about manipulating metal that makes me feel in charge of such a basic thing. I can't leave well enough alone, so I enjoy roughing up the surface to add texture by hammering, bending, scratching, etc. Many of my projects are treated in this manner. I prefer to use natural beads such as stones, shells, and pearls. Their organic quality adds a richness that man-made materials can't equal.
You'll also find that my personal style is very delicate and feminine, yet the pieces are durable when handled. I draw much of my inspiration from female characters in the stories I loved listening to as a child- fairy tales and folk tales. These characters were delicate and feminine yet durable when handled, too. I want those pieces to accessorize the women or to continue the story through jewelry. Also, the clean lines of my pieces give off the idea of easy construction. That's part of my kick. I like to make simple looking pieces that are actually challenging to make.
Inspired Wire is my first book. I am a contributing artist in other books such as The Art of Jewelry: Paper Jewelry, The Art of Jewelry: Wood, Easy Beading Vol. 4, Beading with Pearls, Pretty Little Presents, Making Elegant Jewelry for Special Occasions, Craft Challenege: Dozens of Ways to Repurpose a Scarf, 30 Minute Rings, and Chains, Chains, Chains. Check out my Wish List to see the books. Other pieces and projects have been featured in BeadStyle and Art Jewelry magazines.
When I am not working in my studio, I can be found baking in the kitchen. That feeds my need to create and my sweet tooth all at once!
