If you have tried to find a replacement power adapter for a Dell, you know how frustrating replacement parts can be! Descriptions on Amazon may lead you to buy a product only to have your laptop bios give you the message, "Sorry, this power supply won't charge your unit. You lose." I've ordered a power supply only to find that the tip didn't fit correctly, it claimed to be "Dell" and was aftermarket, it worked for a couple of weeks then died... Well, as I've said, if you've been looking or reading reviews, you know what I'm describing. Then there's the dealer factor. The same description of a power supply may be sold by many vendors at varying price points--and they're not the same units necessarily. You have to get the described power supply and it has to work with your unit, right? To be clear: I bought through Amazon's listing by eDealer. I received a genuine Dell unit. It was exactly as described. And, for those looking, the PA-4E is the correct replacement for the PA-13 Family of Dell power supplies. (I have an XPS M1710.) It's working great. Also, the vendor shipped much faster than the anticipated time in the receipt. I received my unit three days after ordering it. A great product, a great price, I received helpful before the sale answers from eDealer, and it's genuine Dell. Great!

I order this power supply for my DELL XPS L502X laptop as a backup. It is exactly the same as the one originally sent to me with the laptop and it works perfectly.

I bought this to use for my Dell XPS15 laptop with extended life battery, and it works fine. Seems to work the exact same as the one that came new in the box when I bought the Dell laptop.

I ordered one of these power cords, and within about 2 months, the cord was broken. It had split right next to the blue ring that lights up when it has power. I contacted the seller, and the cord was replaced. Less than a year has gone by, and the new cord has split where the large cord connects to the adapter. There are exposed wires showing. This is all from regular use! I'm disappointed, and I won't deal with this seller anymore. Mine was sold by Ampower Supply.

This charger is exactly what i needed. The original charger that came with my Dell XPS model number L502X came apart at the led light at the end of the charger connector(sometimes it would charge sometimes it wouldn't). I decided to purchase this charger Dell PA-4E AC Adapter/charger and it is great. I have no problems and it works like the original that came with the laptop. Great purchase for me.

All of us who purchased the Dell Studio 17 know full well about the serious issues with the OEM power supply that came with the computer. While Dell ignored the problem and refused to honor many warranty claims, users began searching for alternatives to this obviously defective and under-powered power supply. The original was rated for exactly 90 watts, the absolute minimum required by the computer, which generated a lot of error messages if the user needed to both run the laptop and charge the battery (which happens automatically), and reduced functionality of the laptop by 50%. The OEM power supply also ran very hot, hot enough to scorch paper on several occasions, and to leave an imprint in the rubber floor covering of my rig.

This new power supply, one that is OEM for later laptops by Dell, is 130 watts. It provides for all the power needs typical of a laptop computer, and runs very cool on my 1737 (around body temperature, give or take). My 1737 no longer spits out error messages regarding the power supply, and now runs like it did in the first few days I owned it.

If you are looking for a replacement power supply for the Studio 17 series, this one is it, and it comes from Dell. Funny how I had to do find that out from other users, and Dell was silent on the issue.

I would rather Dell had a better design for this, but at least it was fairly cheap to replace. If you scour the internet you will find that Dell has designed battery chargers that fail regularly and that you will likely have to replace them periodically. The issue is that there is a small pin connected to the wiring at the end you put into the laptop that can break and its electrical connection can become intermittent. This causes the computer not to recognize the charger, and there is a circuit and/or software in the computer that will prevent the battery from charging (you will see a message by the battery charging icon). I did not find a solution short of opening up the computer and soldering components, so I bought this replacement on Amazon for a low price (on Dell's site they run about $90). I am happy to report that this appears to be identical to the one that came with my laptop and it works fine.

This is the 130 watt model...more than enough for most laptops, and probably designed to power a dock. Great for a spare adapter for your Dell laptop.
