Instant AutoCAD: Architectural Desktop 3.3, another text in the Instant AutoCAD series, continues the tradition of delivering technical information in a quick and easy format. Although this book does not attempt to cover all the complexities of the program, as we're sure you can understand that a book this size can touch only on the basics, it does offer a look at architectural design in the world of Architectural Desktop, from concepts to construction documents.
Architectural Desktop (ADT) is a 3D, object-based, parametric designer with which the user initially creates 3D models of buildings from mass elements and uses this conceptual design to create a refined building system. Construction documents can then be created. Architectural Desktop is fully integrated and makes use of the AutoCAD graphic interface. The power of the program lies in the object-oriented facilities that can alter an existing design for use in a variety of applications. The architectural objects are able to relate intelligently with one another. At any time you can change the shape and size of the objects that make up the design. Once a design has been created, two-dimensional drawings, in various views, can be created automatically, applying drafting standards for dimensioning and symbol application.
The aim of this text is to give you information and hands-on practical experience so that you will be able to make use of this complex interface in the most efficient manner possible. Instant AutoCAD: Architectural Desktop 3.3 contains hundreds of figures to illustrate the various processes needed to move from a concept to a fully annotated drawing using a 3D model as the base. For each new process, concise theory is presented followed by a practical application to reinforce the newly obtained information.
The layout of the book is explained in Chapter 1, but it is essential to understand the various components of a chapter. The first section in each chapter lists key ideas that will be covered in that chapter. Throughout the chapter you may see a variety of elements: stylized print lifting an idea from the pages for emphasis, tip boxes that stress a certain fact about the program, command sequences in very simple print that present the desired user's input in bold letters, and hands-on exercises to reinforce a new idea. At the end of each chapter you'll find a short-answer test, a series of questions that require longer answers, and a number of assignments. Remember that the more effort you put into study and exercise completion, the more you'll take away from the text in learning. It's up to you.

Architectural Desktop is a very complex and powerful program, but the experience of learning it shouldn't be dull or threatening. Rather, the many exercises, the informal language, and the friendly graphics will make it easier to learn. The topics that cover the most basic operations are explained more fully, whereas others are left for you to investigate on your own. We're sure this is the start of a journey that will bring wider horizons, lucrative results, and the pleasure that comes with mastery of a new tool.

I ordered Instant Autocad Architural Desktop 3.3 and received ONLY the manual NO CD I checked and was told there was no problem. I waited for the delivery date. NO CD. checked and was told temp. no stock. Check my order for details.I am an engineer and use all the Autocad systems other than Architectural desktop. This order has been a total disaster. You will see by my order that i paid for overnight delivery. I will have to check with my bank if my credit card has been reimbersed. I think that you sent me a coupon ??? I dont need it.
