Unless you're incredibly naive about saving money, there's a pathetically small amount of helpful information in this book. One of the 600 tips to save money suggests eating at fastfood restaurants instead of more formal dining, so that you don't have to tip. Does anyone really need to buy a book to learn this?

This book is just so intriguing! I mean I was excited for it to come out, but then to actually read through it is an entirely different story! This book is a simple reference guide for anyone who is trying to "stretch a buck." In fact, the organization of the book alone, makes it so easy to incorporate into your everyday lives! I was really impressed by the details in this book! I mean you can find books on healthy or basic recipes. You can find books on coupon shopping and saving money at the grocery store.

However, this book doesn't just teach you how to shop, but what to do once you get home! It teaches you how to building a pantry, when the best times of year to stock up on seasonal items, and how to use up those items so they don't go to waste! Plus, that's not even half of what the book is about! There are ways to save money on things for your "kiddos." There are tips on eating out or having date nights at home. There are simple ways to be frugal and still have a fun time!

Overall, it just helps you gain a different perspective when it comes to money. You can also learn to use common sense and local resources to come up with great ways to save your family money. So then you can have a good life, without spending alot to get it!

You know you have found a gem when your husband exclaims, "I didn't know you could freeze that!" Never one to participate in the coupon portion of our lives, he found several tips. ;)

Needless to say I found the book very helpful! Having been on mommysavers for a couple years, I had heard some of the advise before, but was amazed at the simple tricks I hadn't tried yet! With the basic recipes and tips from web site members, this really becomes a good reference book as well. I loved reading through the book and will continue to refer to it in the future!! I think it's going in the kitchen!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME book, January 26, 2010
This review is from: Instant Bargains: 600+ Ways to Shrink Your Grocery Bills and Eat Well for Less (Paperback)
I recieved this book and had it read from cover to cover in 1 night! I consider myself pretty good at grocery shopping and being a frugal person, but there is always more to learn and this book proves it. My favorite section was the "Make it yourself" with such things as taco seasoning, dry onion soup mix, and mayonaise! What a $$ saver!!

Unless you're incredibly naive about saving money, there's a pathetically small amount of helpful information in this book. One of the 600 tips to save money suggests eating at fastfood restaurants instead of more formal dining, so that you don't have to tip. Does anyone really need to buy a book to learn this?
More examples of 'money saving tips' (for the truly clueless):
Using ground beef to make taco meat, spaghetti sauce, or lasagna. (I know fourth graders who make taco meat from hamburger.)
Advising readers that meat is one of the most expensive grocery items.
Recommending that you freeze food that you cannot finish before it spoils.
Knowing what items are in your freezer or refrigerator.
Telling readers they can grate cheese with a food processor.
"Try not making too many trips to the store to save gas and money."
Stock up when there's a sale on foods your family enjoys.

Wow. Seriously? I ordered this book primarily because it came out in 2010. Given the publishing date, it should have had some new ideas. Other than the author promoting websites, some recipes, and tips that can easily be found using an Internet search engine, there's nothing to this book. All hype and nothing to back it up.

I'm starting a cozy fire in my fireplace. By using the pages as kindling, maybe this book can be of some value.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Book That Never Leaves my Side, March 6, 2010
This review is from: Instant Bargains: 600+ Ways to Shrink Your Grocery Bills and Eat Well for Less (Paperback)
Really this book never does leaves my side! I stuff it into my purse so that I can always have the useful and helpful tips and suggestions right there. I love the comparisons and how much you really can save by shopping generic and it really is no different than the name brand. This book definitely gets a 2 thumbs up and is on my to give and recommend list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Needed!, February 16, 2010
This review is from: Instant Bargains: 600+ Ways to Shrink Your Grocery Bills and Eat Well for Less (Paperback)
As my children have gotten older my grocery bills have gotten bigger and bigger. I've known for a while I needed to make a change in the way I shop for groceries as well as in the way my family eats. The majority of the money I spend on groceries goes to expensive, over-processed snack foods. This book could not have come at a better time! I'm not one who is constantly aware of the best deals or the best way to save a buck or two so I was a bit skeptical to read "Instant Bargains". Plus I'm already overwhelmed with my busy family, I didn't want something else to complicate my already hectic life. This book really came down to my level and explained things in a way I could understand and really apply to my life. There are a lot of different approaches to saving money and Kim Danger covers them all in this book. It's not just about clipping coupons (there is so much more to it); there are recipes for easy meals my family will actually eat, ways to prepare all different kinds of foods, how long things will keep in the fridge, freezer etc. etc. "Instant Bargains" is a book all moms and whoever's looking to shrink their grocery bill should have. I will be buying several for my friends and family!

I love this book! I actually went to the bookstore yesterday to pick up the latest coupon mom book, but I ran across this one and bought it instead. It is so easy to read and up front about everything. There are so many neat ideas in here as well as helpful advice. I am just now starting to use coupons because I always have someone in front of me in the checkout line saving 10.00+. She has a great website that has tons of helpful information with coupons online that you can print out as well as sites you can go to to get instant coupons. Thanks for writing this book! I am now a couponer =)

I borrowed this first from the library, then just had to have it. It has so many tips in here for saving money. It gives you web sites, recipes and so much more! Everyone should at least read this book, you'll be amazed at what you find in it.
Enjoy saving money, then this is the book that you need!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great advice!, January 26, 2010
This review is from: Instant Bargains: 600+ Ways to Shrink Your Grocery Bills and Eat Well for Less (Paperback)
This is such a great book. It's broken down into sections so it's really easy to use a reference. I get many of my books from the library but this is one I'll use over and over. I like that it goes beyond coupons and into things like loyalty programs. It's also really good at showing you how to eat well on less. This is not about eating cheap junk but about feeding your family good quality food at a reasonable price, Lots of website resources and links too. It is well worth the money. You'll save that much many times over!
