4.0 out of 5 stars Wireless tethering? April 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have just bought the Instant Guide to DSLR Dasboard but find there is no mention of how this will work with the Nikon WU-1b that is supported as of version 0.30.20. Please can you tell me if the WU-1b and the D600 is that all I will needed to get wireless tethering working directly with an Android tablet or what else is required? Also a list of supported cameras and more details of the supported functions would be a useful addition to the manual.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Underpriced January 5, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What you get should be available free, but since the app is free is comes undocumented. This describes the feature set. There is absolutely no troubleshooting help ... and with DSLR Dashboard that's what you really need. I got this hoping it would provide the info to get the product to work, but it did not. Think of this as a detailed sales brochure and it will live up to your expectations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money March 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book because the DSLR Dashboard app comes with no real instructions and using it is not the most intuitive thing I've ever used. I thought this book would explain in some practical terms how to use it. Instead, all it basically does is tell you how to connect and what each button does, spending about a sentence on each. So, it tells you everything that you could figure out for yourself within the first 2 minutes of using it, but goes no further. I know literally as much about using the app now, than I did before I read this. Some kind of practical use or demonstrations, tutorials, almost anything would have made this better, but as it is, it's a waste of time and money. Sorry I bought it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Inadequate June 14, 2014

I purchased this because I couldn't figure out how to transfer images from my Nikon camera to my handset. In its overview of features, this document says it can be done, but doesn't say how. The content of this document mostly consists of an overview of the UI elements of the software and little more. There is no troubleshooting or how-to component of the document. Because it didn't provide the information I needed, and it cost money, I think it was a waste of money for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Helpful in Understanding the App March 10, 2014
By Gary
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For a novice photographer like myself it was helpful as an introduction to understanding how to use the DSLR Dashboard Android App, without which I would have had a hard time. I also appreciate the author making updates to the book available to purchasers since there are changes in the app that are not in the book. Unfortunately, the App itself does not work very well with my Nikon D3200.

Overall well done. It explains how to use the apps functions and uses. I especially intend to use it for its time lapse features and would have liked this section to be more detailed.

If you are looking for documentation on how specific DSLR Dashboard functions work, this is not going to help. He basically gives a brief overview of each function. I learned just as much by playing with DSLR Dashboard for an hour.

An “instant” guide and not a user’s manual.

This is an “instant” guide to the DSRL Dashboard application —not a user’s manual— and it gets this objective, right to the point in the use of the app, cutting out the learning curve, and enough to anybody with basic knowledge of digital photography. As another reviewer wrote, this guide won’t tell you how to use the camera or be a photographer.
