After excited anticipation, the last thing I wanted to see was a C6 error and all the lights flashing. Nothing on the web about this error. Nothing in the INSTANTPOT FAQ. Called Customer Service and they assured me it is a KNOWN PROBLEM, easy to fix, and I could do it myself. Based on their statistics, about 500 people should have seen the same error. But there was nothing published. HMMMM!!! The Customer Service rep would not tell me the fix (two steps) over the phone. Go to the INSTANTPOT.COM customer support page and open a ticket. Next day a detailed full color email came. The problem was not the same, but I managed to determine the leads for the pressure sensor were not connected. And I got an look at the insides, in my opinion, it is not robust.

A month later, and about 100 meals, I am a satisfied owner.

I was concerned about the size, but it was needless. I'm actually kind of glad because it's so good I am eating too much! (leftovers to the neighbors who think it's all good) I've cooked 5# chickens, 6# roasts, perfection every time. Seafood and Soups are the best I've ever had. Every cooking cycle has been used many times. When using a recipe book, I use that, even if it's almost double; for example, the corned beef 3# went 50 mins, but it was moist and tender. PERFECT! My four favorites; Miss Vicky's Rice Pudding, Bob Warden's Whole Bird, Bob Warden's two cola pork roast. and Chicken Stock (because it improves everything you cook in it). Hot pork sandwiches from the two cola pork roast are addicting! Be sure to double the gravy, it's that good. BTW, Steamed veggies only take three minutes, crispy crunch 2, and use the quick cool down, then into ice water. More, or using the natural cool down method, and you get veggie mush.

I waited and waited until they got this size available with the steel pot - what with all the fears about non-sticking pots cooked at high heat and high pressure, and I waited and watched until it finally showed up in March of this year. Promptly bought for cooked white rice in about 20 minutes, veggies in 2 minutes. People this is amazing! Kaichoi, choisum, collard greens ripped up with your hands or large sliced then toss in the instant pot with just a goodly amount of salt free substitute, a 1/4 cup of onions- about 2-4 cups of water in the bottom to half over the veggies, cover lid, put on manual function for 2 minutes and then 12 minutes later (takes about 10 minutes to build pressure, then 2 minutes to cook, place towel over the steam pressure valve (if you are going to open the lid before it has fully cooled down) release valve to the left or right - and then voila - instant vegan, no fat dish in 12 minutes! You can drink the delicious broth as soup! Amazing! I now have an overflowing refrigerator because I wanted to try out so many vegan dishes - went a little enthusiastic here! The best part is -this is for people who do many things at one time - you set it, wander off doing all your other things, until you hear the 10 or so beeps that says its done, then wander back in and release the valve and then eat it.
I have never had a pressure cooker of any kind, but after reading Chef AJs recommendation, I bought the electric instant pot, and I am very happy I chose it because if you were to buy the stove top variety, you seem to slave over the stove, turning and flipping notches at set times, yeeeech. Didn't want to mess with all the stove top stuff, so I bought the instant pot.

This little pot is perfect for me. Makes it simple to set it & forget it. Clean-up is a breeze! Love that it has a stainless steel pot to cook food in! For a single, couple, or small family, this 5 qt. size is just right! If you want to feed an army then opt for the larger one. See specs for amount of space required ... they're pretty accurate. This is much easier & safer than the last one I owned.

A well thought out and expertly crafted product with quality materials! Easy programming with presets available for most popular foods, each with custom adjustments for user cooking preferences. A "Manual" mode is also available for complete flexibility for setting cooking time with each of the three cooking methods, Pressure, Steam, and Slow Cooking. The stainless steel cook pot insert will spot, presumably from the hard water mineral deposits endemic in my area. This is not a problem and these can be removed with a commercial cleaner or vinegar rinse if desired.
This versatile cooker is easier, quicker and more convenient than my well used range pressure cooker, steamer and electric slow cooker. Add to this the auto settings for delayed start and auto switch from cooking to warm mode with this exceptional product. With the exception of my rice cooker which is timed by amount of water added, the Instapot is now my choice for all pot cooking. And one more plus, there is little to no steam released in the Steam or Pressure cooking modes, unless manually released by user.

Excellent product. Very easy to make rice and congee. Just press one button and you are done. The price is very reasonable which make me wonder how those Japanese rice cookers worth 300 bucks. For what reason?
