I have Peggy Brill's other book, The Core Program and I have gotten impressive results from it. I used to get searing hip pain after doing housework or intense activities - but after working with the Core Program exercises, my hip pain is gone. So, I decided to get her new book, Instant Relief. The exercises are easy to perform and described very well. The illustrations are helpful (I would have preferred pictures, but oh well.) Most importantly, they WORK. Oddly enough, I pulled my hamstring a week after buying this book. I followed the exercises for hamstrings and the pain was gone - pronto! Thanks to Peggy Brill for another well done book!

This book does exactly what it says: When things go wrong (and as we near 60, we find they do...) this is the first place I find I can turn for so many of the day-to-day issues our bodies have. The doctor was amazed when, after foot surgery, I regained flexibility that I wasn't supposed to have. My husband referred to this book for a knee problem he was having, and prevented damage that could have happened as he waited for physical thereapy sessions to begin.
In both instances, we showed this book to our doctor and physical therapists who were impressed and gave definite approval. It's important to keep in mind that bodywork (physical therapy..yoga... pilates) still needs to be done, but the techniques given here can actually help one reduce the need for pain meds and (as in my husband's case) possibly prevent damage that could happen before prescribed medical treatment can begin.

I never take the time to write a review, but this book is brilliant and worthy of my effort. No more wasted time at Physical Therapy. Do it yourself--cheap, easy, fast. Brill's first book Core Therapy is essential to ending the pain. She understands the physiology of the spine and addresses the real problem rather than the symptoms. This is my third week of daily fixes and no more MRI's and doctors not looking at the big picture.

I like this book because it has exercises used in physical therapy to relieve various aches and pains all over the body. It's easy to find what you're looking for and the exercises I've tried work. The illustrations are helpful. Having this book is a lot cheaper than visiting a physical therapist to get the same exercises, plus the whole family can use it.

Pain Relief -Quick,

In the last year I had Physical Therapy for my knees & arm/neck/shoulder. I looked for books to continue doing exercise at home. Some books make you determine what is wrong with your body, but if you're wrong you can actually choose improper exercises and hurt yourself. This book has short, quick exercises that are similar to what I was taught at therapy, and I feel safe in doing them. If you want a program to feel better in general, her other book -Core Program, really has routines that are similar to what my therapist was teaching me. No muscle/ligamnet, etc. is an isolated thing. You need to develop the surrounding areas to really function well without pain.

This book changed my life. I'm 52 years old. Six months ago I had so much pain and discomfort, extreme fatigue. I work as a nurse and run all day, then when I would get home I would crash. Lay on the couch all evening, taking tylenonl and IBuprophen. Which upset my stomach alot. I didnt feel like exercising because I hurt too much. Cramps in my feet and legs, my lower back was killing me. Carple tunnel pain in my hands, neck and shoulder pain, poor posture chronic headaches. Poor sleep. You name it. Also I was going to the chiropractor once a week. My back would not stay in place. I was depressed. I prayed for help it was so bad. Then I first found this book at the grocery store. I took it home and gradually started doing the exercises for each of my complaints untill I had done everything in the book. I started felling pain free. I quit going to the chiropractor. I started doing other exercises also. I hardly take any pain meds anymore and my stomach has improved. I told my friends about the book and they also wanted to get it. I couldnt find it at the store. But I found it at Amazon.com. and odered the book for my friends.

The exercises in this book are truly a god sent relief. I wish I had know about it years ago. Within two days of doing the exercises for the hips and knees, my pain level dropped 80%. Although I have advanced arthritis in my hips and knees I am still able to work at this time. I realize I will have to have surgery in the future, but I think the exercises will make my recovery easier.
Thanks to the author for being so insightful that people needed this information. I believe in this book so much I am now giving it as gifts to family and friends. If you know someone with arthritis of the hips or knees, you will be proving a life without pain for them.

After years of trying different approaches to help with back pain I bought this after being intrigued with the title. I looked up the type of pain I was having, located it in the book, followed the clear directions, and it worked! My husband picked it up, used the same approach, and he's amazed with the results. He's a gym rat that exercises and stretches daily and couldn't get rid of his nagging lower back pain - but now with the stretches and exercises described in the book, they are under control. We've had to keep up with the exercises but my husband and I have been pleasantly surprised with the results.

I got immediate relief for a nagging knee problem when I followed the suggested exercises in Peggy's book. I've continued to use the exercises on a regular basis and my knee is almost back to normal. The instructions are written in easy to follow language. This book could easily be a 5 Star "Plus" if the illustrations were just a bit more detailed. I've recommended this book to many of my friends.

I really like the book. I can sit at my desk and do many of the exercises and in a small amt. of time. I also like the fact the author is a Physical therapist, so she knows what she is talking about.
