4.0 out of 5 stars a well-written CD
I wasn't expecting much when I bought this CD, cause I did so pretty much of a whim. Fortunately, this is actually quite a good CD. It's a mix of techno, big beat, and a bunch of other stuff, even coming close to industrial (Peace Repackaged) and jazz, or something (Snapshot on Pollard Street). However, I found that some of the songs on here (Death Valley...

3.0 out of 5 stars A few choice cuts, otherwise un-inspiring.
Very disappointing album. Given the quality of the single "Fire up the Shoesaw," I had anticipated an album surpassing possibly even the great Fatboy Slim. A thoroughly average album, good to have on in the background. Worth the thirteen bucks.

It's a mix of techno, big beat, and a bunch of other stuff, even coming close to industrial (Peace Repackaged) and jazz, or something (Snapshot on Pollard Street). However, I found that some of the songs on here (Death Valley Clapperboard, Don't Die Foolish, and a few on the second CD) just didn't appeal to me- they seemed a bit dull.. It's definately worth the price, though (love that Chemical Brothers mix!) +=SrCosmo

I first heard Lionrock when i was in high school. (Great, now i feel old). Back in the days where Internet Radio was just starting, and I became exposed to a lot of different music that you don't get to hear on the radio. I bought the cd for the song I heard on the net (Fire Up The Shoesaw). However, I found much of the cd to be more entertaining. It's different. I had been looking everywhere for the cd, and could not find it. I ended up discovering it in a discount bin at a department store.

I think the cd has a lot to offer, be it the jazzy type of songs "Straight at Yer Head" or the bumping techno of "Are You Ready To Testify?" Give it a chance. Sometimes first impressions are wrong. Listen to it while you're in the mood to really listen and soak it all in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lionrock is what all electronica should be, January 26, 1999

Call it whatever you want, techno, electronica, anything. The thing about this album is that it breaks those barriers. By combining singing and breakbeats Lionrock has formed a dynamite album. If you hear Fireup the Shoesaw (vocal mix), you will know what I'm talking about. Buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good CD for a different type of techno, December 9, 1998

I just receivced this CD by post, and I enjoy listening to it while just hanging out. It's listenable, and not so intense that it sounds clubby. It's great for someone who's tetering on the edge of sanity from listening to too much candy-coated pop music.

4.0 out of 5 stars a unique, inspiring look at techno, December 29, 2007

Lionrock is a very unique band. They have taken techno and mixed in a little jazz and hip-hop. It is a unique sound that is all it's own. The fact that they made this a double cd with remixes is even more of a reason to get this album. I got this because I was looking for a song by them, which wasn't on this album, but I discovered that I got a lot more. For true music pioneers and techno fans, definitely check this out.

This CD was great to just sit and listen to or to dance to or to just enjoy. I liked having it and would reccomend it to anyone who was new to the techno/electronica area of music. It's a wonderful CD for anyone.
