What a tasty treat this novel was! Bad girl Jaclyn is moving to a gated community to help her father's company and behave herself. Only she meets the ultimate bad boy, panther alpha Slyck. Slyck is also part of the town elite counsel, a very strict counsel. Their ultimate goal is protecting the secrecy they hide in their community, panthers, lycans, witches, vampires and demons. There really isn't too much about the witches, vamps and demons in this book. Slyck recognizes the panther in Jaclyn, only she doesn't know it. Unable to keep himself from her he instantly recognizes her as his mate. Their attraction is electric and erotic. The only problem is the counsel isn't supposed to have contact with her, to do so is death. If they find out she's a pather it is death. Several problems, hard solutions in this twisty turny paranormal erotic romance.
Erotic it is from page one! M/F/F, F/F and M/F practices.
This book is very interesting, very fast paced. I read it all at once, unable to put it down. I wanted to know how they solved their conundrum! I would happily read the next in the series!

Jaclyn Vasenty is making some big changes in her life. The privileged Chicago socialite is giving up all vices, which mainly includes kinky sex, and turning over a new life. She owes so much to her adopted parents who rescued her from foster care. Now it's time for Jaclyn to turn her back on her deep sexual nature and take over as the head of her family's company, Vasenty Cosmetics, and save one of their stores from closing in the small town of Serene, New Hampshire.

Things in Serene are not what they seem because the rustic town is full of supernatural creatures such as vampires, witches and shapeshifters. The community there doesn't take kindly to outsiders, especially humans, and will do whatever they can to chase Jaclyn out. If she doesn't, then they will change her into one of them. Slyck, the owner of the only nightclub in Serene, isn't too happy about Jaclyn either, but doesn't want to take such drastic steps to keep her in line. As a panther guide, Slyck is an Overseer who must keep his brethren in line and keep order, as well as making sure their existence is kept a secret from the rest of the world. He is also worried that Vall, the lycan (werewolf) Sguide for the Eastern Chapter, which is the East Coast, will go after Jaclyn. Slyck takes it upon himself to watch over Jaclyn.

When Jaclyn and Slyck first meet, there are major sparks between them. Jaclyn is worried because she wants to be a good girl, but whenever Slyck is around, he makes her throw all her inhibitions out the window. Slyck becomes so obsessed with Jaclyn that he decides she may just be the woman he has been waiting for all his life. And when he and Jaclyn act on their desires for one another, he knows that Jaclyn is his true mate. He comes to the conclusion that she is the offspring of a panther who left Serene years ago. If the townspeople figure out what Jaclyn really is, they will eliminate her because of her father who went rogue and left the community. Slyck wants a future with Jaclyn but she thinks he's crazy with his talk of men and woman who change into animals. Then Vall decides he'll turn Jaclyn into a lycan by biting her and it's up to Slyck to put his life on the line for Jaclyn, who tries to ignore her true nature and what Slyck really means to her.

Instinctive is a hot and sexy book even though I found humor in the hero's name being Slyck. When I was able to get past that bit of funny, I found Instinctive to be an enjoyable read for the majority of the story. I really liked how Cathryn Fox created a sexually assured woman who enjoys sex and won't apologize for her wants and desire. The passion and lust between Jaclyn and Slyck oozes off the pages. These two do everything and anything together and it really works, even though some of the passages seem a bit purple in their description with mention of certain fluids leaking and dirty talk.

Serene has a nice small-town feel to it with some interesting characters. Vall is your typical egocentric villain who wants power and prestige and will do whatever he can to get it. Also Jaclyn's new friend, Sunray, a lycan, is a great support for Jaclyn. I was a bit turned off when Ms. Fox decided to have Sunray join Jaclyn and Slyck in their bed as a way to comfort Sunray. Up to this point, Jaclyn is only interested in men and never gives an inclination that she would be attracted to another woman. That came out of left field and it left me scratching my head because I really didn't see the point of it.

Cathryn Fox can sure write some kinky hot sex and I definitely found that in Instinctive. The underlying suspense plot was a bit lacking because of all the emphasis on the sex between Slyck and Jaclyn, but for what it's worth, Instinctive left me satisfied.

"The book starts out with a hot and sexy sex scene. I thought the importance of that scene was twofold - one it grabbed my attention right off, but as the book progressed I realized that scene highlighted just how much more intense, emotional, and fulfilling the relationship between Jaclyn and Slyck was. The plot of this book is so different from other paranormals out there. I liked how the town was home to a variety of species and that they were learning to coexist. The problems between the species made the storyline very believable. There is a ménage scene with some F/F action mixed in as well as ménage with M/F/M. Instinctive by Cathryn Fox - An Eternal Pleasure Novel

Cathryn Fox delivers - AGAIN. INSTINCTIVE, the first of her Eternal Pleasure Series offered by HEAT ([...]) brought out the animal in me! WOW, this one was such a great blend of the paranormal and erotica that I couldn't put it down until I'd read the whole thing.

The story centers around a town called Serene - only the people inhabiting this town are anything but peaceful or staid. Filled with shifters, vamps, demons and witches, the paranormal here hide from the rest of the world. Socialite Jaclyn sees only the potential for the place to improve her reputation and to prove to her family she can be professional enough to take over the family business. She doesn't understand the darker side of the town until it is far too late, and her own sexual nature has driven her into the arms of Slyck, the ultimate virile fantasy man. Unfortunately he is also a panther shifter and he recognizes something wild within Jaclyn. He does everything in his power to bring that wildness out.

While there are darker tones to the novel, overall there is a feeling of warmth to the book that I have felt lacking in some erotica lately. I am really looking forward to the next book, which features a fantastic dominant hero, Kane. We get a taste of him in INSTINCTIVE, and I want MORE.

Instinctive is the first in a series of three: Instinctive, Impulsive, and Indulgent. I love the shape-changers!! Instinctive's hero lives in the "quiet" little town of Serene - a small town where nothing is as it seems in the daytime and the people are not what or who they seem. When Jaclyn Vasenty comes to town, things get stirred up in more ways than one. Slyck - the town counselor - is a were-cat, a panther. Jaclyn is a mortal. When their lives mesh, all hell breaks loose. Exciting and enthralling. You won't want to put the book down. Cathryn Fox is a genius at creating believable mystical beings: Were-cats, Lycans, Witches, Demons, and Vampires all residing in one small community. You'll finish Instinctive and go straight to Impulsive. Believe me - I did - and I'm going straight from this one to Indulgent.

Jaclyn Vasenty knows in thirty five hours her true inner self will be dead. She no longer run the wild side of life having sex with Brian and Kane who make her want to forget the obligation she owes her adopted parents Ben and Marie Vasenty who rescued her from Chicago transit and foster care. She would do anything for the her parents so if she is to become head of her family's company Vasenty Cosmetics as they want, she must change her image from bad girl to corporate exec starting by saving one of the failing stores in aptly named Serene, New Hampshire,.

However, her thought of boring serene rustication proves false when night falls on the gated community. The wild come out in the dark as all types of paranormal walk the streets. However, Jaclyn can indulge her Instinctive wild side impulse with shapeshifting panther Slyck as he takes her on runs to a nirvana she never tasted before. As her libido goes stratospheric with the troposphere next, the paranormals are having intra species issues and Kane arrives to claim her.

This erotic romantic fantasy heats up New Hampshire with a variety of sexual trysts including the incredible sexcapades between the panther and his "Impulsive" feral female, a ménage a trois and FF. However, the key to the torrid tale is the belief that the variety of paranormal species exists because the in-fighting seems genuine mirroring real life. Still it is the torrid sex scenes that will arouse sub-genre fans to want more Eternal Pleasure in the erotic realm of the Fox.
